Just had to brag on my ladies for a second. I have five separate coops. I have a barnyard mix coop, an Orpington coop, a Wyandotte coop, an Americauna coop, and a bitty grow out coop. In the barnyard mix coop, my Polish/Silkie is broody and sitting on a clutch. In my Orpington coop, my lavender...
Playing with the calculator, I got a Lavender Patterned Buff Incomplete Double Laced/Half Spangled Barred Pied/Mottled.
I want to know what it would look like! LOL
Wait a minute...let me think...this is like calculus in my head...
If the hen is barred, it can only pass the barred gene to males. So the females wouldn't show barring.
So you're right. It would be sex linked. All barred males that are heterozygous barred and split for mottled. All black hens...
Wouldn't a black mottled roo not be able to give the barred gene and the barred hen ONLY be able to give the barred gene? So wouldn't both male and females from that pair be barred? And then, the mottled gene is recessive, so wouldn't all of that mix be barred, split mottles?

So...I'm pathologically curious. What would a chicken with the mottled, pattern, AND barred genes look like? Anyone have Pictures? Google has failed me. I may do a side breeding project just to satisfy my curiosity...
I have Orpingtons (black, blue, and lavender) and I have Wyandottes (black laced red, silver laced, and gold laced). I am aiming for an Isabel Lavender Orpington because it is gorgeous! I'm going to be adding in blue laced red Wyandottes as well. I also like the mauve Orpingtons so I am going to...
Thank you. This time of year is always rough. We lost our first son March 3, 2015 so I'm usually basically a wreck this time of year. And it's snowing in the middle of March here right now. Mother Nature is a psychopath this year. LOL!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I got into chickens on March 3, 2016. It was the one year anniversary of my son's death and I found myself in TSC and depressed. There were chicks and ducklings. So, on a whim I bought six chicks and 2 ducklings. Two years later...
