Hi, I am in need of some help. I originally hatched three pekin chicks from my hen. They are now nearly two months old and two of them have barely grown.
They have been given chick crumbs etc as usual and I’ve never had problems like this.
One of the chicks however was a lot bigger than the...
Hi, so about three days ago I had an accident and dropped my incubator lid on my goose egg, this was about day 25 for the gosling.
It is now day 28 and it has been tweeting and moving a lot for about two days after internally pipping. Ive been dampening the membrane every half hour also.
It...
I would give it another day, I think interfering with the hatch can cause a lot more damage. If it’s not chirping or moving there’s a chance it might not have made it already or it could just be resting.
Hi, what type of egg is it? It usually takes around 24 hours to go from internal to external pip. I would give it another 24 hours and see if anything happens. Can u hear any peeping or anything?
Hi, thanks for replying, this is what it looks like. It’s now day 27 and the gosling is still alive and rocking about in the egg. I have been brushing some water on the mebrane every hour or so. I am unsure to wait until it pips or not ?. Thanks
Hi, so I have had a bit of an accident...
When going to turn my goose egg the lid slipped out my hand and smashed the shell, however it didn’t get through the membrane.
I am current on day 26 so I have stopped turning now. I can see the guy is still alive and rocking about in the egg also.
I...
Hi,
The last couple of weeks I have noticed that my flock (not all of them) seem to be shaking their heads and sneezing quite a bit. They seem happy and healthy apart from that. I have been trying to find some information on this and help to what I can do, however I can't seem to find anything...
I have been cleaning his nostrils regularly and listened to his breathing and does not seem to be any problems he is eating and drinking plenty and isn’t lathargic at all they other hens don’t seem to have a problem do not sure if it’s contagous ?
Hi I have a 6 month old Silkie and he keeps blowing bubbles out his nose
He doesn’t show any other signs of anything so I don’t really know what it is.
Could anyone help ?
The breeder only sells pure silkie eggs. I asked for 6 red silkie eggs but she may have slipped a gold an Partridge egg in there due the low eggs produced. It makes more sense now as I was pretty sure the darker one was not a red silkie however time may tell. Thank you for your help I understand...
The breeder I got the hatching eggs off is a top silkie breeder so i'm pretty sure they are pure, however i'm starting to question as are red silkies supposed to have light skin ?
I had a feeling it wasn't until they got a bit older as I have another batch which are pure and are not blue yet. I had just read on previous threads that they would be blue but that must be until they are older. IT was more the lighter skin on my red silkie I was wondering about.
Some chickens might just not like being picked up. I would try seeing if you can hand feed them a bit and maybe start to stroke them when they get close get them use to you again?
