i have 2 black copper maran cockeral chicks that are free. They have been handled as chicks but I will soon stop that. They are cute with their feathered shanks. Located between Charlotte and Winston Salem. Let me know if you are interested in one or both.
I have 2 black copper Maran chicks about 4 weeks old, I believe they are going to be cockerels. They are not outside yet and still get a heat plate at night in a unheated bathroom. They have been handled as babys but that will soon be discontinued. Sweet as can be though with those feathered...
That cat is BEA-u-TI-ful.:love I had one that looked similar, he was black and greyish, whiteish. He was a stray kitten who picked our home to hang out, probably because we put food out for him. He had the best personality and was a prankster also a rodent hunting machine.
I got some from cackle this year. I called them and they were very helpful and knew their stuff. Maybe give them a call. All my chicks arrived alive and healthy and are laying and scratching around in the backyard now.
Maybe a olive egger? I got some that look similar to welsummers, I guess because they are a welsummer x with blue layer of some sort. They lay a speckeled greenish blueish egg depending on the bird.
Mine got wet the other day and our night time low was 34 degrees. It really worried me, I put them up 2 hrs early to give them time to dry out before night. I seriously contemplated bringing them in and blow-drying all 30 of them, but did not. :lauMy husband thought I was crazy. None of them...
That's cool, I was asking because I've saw pictures of them on somebody's farm out in a pen with a couple chickens. It looked like a nice set up. The one they had was HUGE. Like the ones you see at the zoo. Lol. It does sound like a big commitment but would be super cool to have. Ehh..to bad I...
They have alot of animal sales and swaps near you, southern states in Statesville has one of pretty good size. They also have one in Taylorsville at the fair on occasion. That may or may not be a option for you. Good luck. I would take one if I could but I already have one more than my limit...
Yes I know I have to. I will be doing so tomarrow afternoon. I wanted to tell my husband first instead of him getting home and me telling him "I culled your special birds" He agreed that 30 healthy chickens is way better than 32 unhealthy ones. I want to do the best possible for my flock and...
I know they are sick, and my large animal says it's infectious coryza. Eaither way I know they are sick and totally agree with you on culling the sick with respritory illness, now just to do it. Ugh. But my healthy flock is more important than these two Brahma chicks, I will not make my whole...
At some point I had to ask myself if keeping these chicks meant more to me than my healthy flock, the answer is no. I don't want to deal with sick birds if it can be avoided. I took my goat vet to see them and discuss testing and she picked one up looked at and smelled it and then pointed it out...
The chicks are around 6 weeks old. I did, but they swear there has never been a respritory illness in the flock, and that I would be culling healthy birds. The foul smelling snot dripping down their beak and raspy breathing indicates otherwise. They have never been near my chickens or any...
@EggSighted4Life , I think you were the one helping me on my first post about these chicks and the second one that stemmed from there about my eggs. LOL
Well I got a couple Brahma chicks for my husband from a breeder, something I promised myself I would never do. Turns out they have coryza. I have kept them in a strict quarantine. FAR AWAY from my healthy flock. Never again will I bring a live chicken, only hatching eggs as I promised myself...
Some of mine took a little over 24 hrs to zip after they pipped, my first set and second had a couple that did that. I had a unfortunate malpostioned chick, that I waited too long to help but it was around 48 hrs before the chick died so hopefully you still have some time. The others that were...
