As part of our permit request, the town sent letters to our abutting neighbors asking for their approval. 2 out of 3 said it was ok, #3 is directly behind us and has a big golden retriever. Our big golden retirever went over to play one time and stayed for breakfast (theirs - he is a rescue...

our girl nancy drew wags her tail often we find it rather endearing she has a rather big tail compared to the other girls but since she lays the only greenish brown eggs shes definitely a girl XD i think its all genes

How bad are the injuries? Can you post pictures? do you have access to an antibiotic for chickens? We had a rescue chicken with a large abrasion and had to keep her on antibiotics for about 2 weeks. She's since grown all her feathers in and is part of the flock.
Good luck!
Thank you for getting back to us.
That was a good reference link, but kind of gross. I'm glad I was not eating!
I've been feeding her pumpkin seeds because I read that they are good at worming, but she has not been "formally" wormed. Any product suggestions?

Is she kind of hunched up? flexing her butt alot? she might be eggbound. That is how I clued into mine being uncomfortable. They were just not acting right. A warm butt bath with soapy water for a while helped her alot. A lot of folks say to put vaseline or something up the poor girls vent...

Do you know what type of hawk it is? It's beautiful, but I'm sorry it got one of your chickens. We've had a Cooper's hawk swooping over the chickens a few times in the past week. I reinforced the netting over the whole area today when I saw it right outside the window. It's a small hawk - I...
Hi!
I've read that chickens love pumpkin. So far my chickens have been indifferent. Do you cook your pumpkins before giving them to the chickens so they are soft or just cut them in half and plop them out in the coop with the girls?
Thanks!
