Recently acquired rooster from a neighbor who bought it at the local expo.
His daughter has bought an identical rooster from there, different breeder, which leads me to believe it isn't a mutt, although it looks to me like some type of sultan/silkie mix.
Does anyone know what he is?
I'm not sure if this belongs in this thread but I figured people who were providing information about chicken breeders may know about breeders of turkeys, guineas, ducks and geese.
I get my chickens from mypetchicken.com and I really appreciate how they make it easy to order low quantities of...
Tried chicken wire, they fly over it. tried moving the coop farther from the neighbors' barn, and it didn't help at all. and I want free-rangers but they will not stay in our yard. in the morning they all sneak over there while we are all at school/work and won't come back until later in the...
So we bought a white sultan hen. She is tagged, and I don't think she has ever been ab;e to be outside. I think she was a warehouse chicken. Cause she doesn't really move or interact with the others much, all she does is sit in the same place all day, and she eats with the rest of the flock. We...
got 3 pekin ducklings and 6 chicks-- golden comet, speckled sussex and barred rock. theyre adorable! We already have 4 chicks named-- Al Capone and David Bowie for boys and Emily and Penelope for girls. Two of the ducklings are Daniel and Mama Odie... this leaves 2 female speckled sussexes and 1...
2 of my hens have stopped laying in the laying box and started laying up on an are of the coop's rafters(stupid.. how would chicks get down??) in order to hatch eggs... theyve currently got about 11 up there and theyre taking turns sitting on them for about a total of 6 hours of the day.. they...
thats interesting about poodles... i dont like the fluffy dogs much anyway so i wasnt likely to get one but i'd never heard that before so i'm glad you warned me.
Naw, not golden comet. I don't believe they come as bantams and golden comet roosters are white, not orange. The full size rooster in the pic next to Cinnamon is a golden comet.
Oliver is my baby, he is one year old and he likes to be held. He is going through a teenage phase right now where he tries to be aggressive to impress the ladies, but he sucks at it. He lets me hold him and stroke his waddles. It makes him fall asleep. He is such a sweetheart, he thinks he is...
thats what i though. yes i think Cinnamon has large fowl in him cause he is about the same size as my Whie Leghorn hen.... But La Dante doesn't; he is one-fifth the size of the others.
ohh, just realized-- there are two of our RIR roos in the background of the picture of Cinnamon and Lyle! They have both been killed due to aggression towards humans.. they were pretty, though!
