I think there is probably more than one fox that lives in our area. We hadn't seen one recently until now.
We could get an alarm, yes. In the past we have just left a radio going so the fox hears voices and thinks people are around.
I will put him back soon, but I am waiting until his cuts...
I'm glad she was ok. I will probably make him something like that too.
I have him separated right now, and I definitely wont put him back with the others until he is mostly healed.
Thats what we used. The fox ran into the woods, but there is another chicken that he killed before we could stop...
Any recommendations for pain and antibiotic meds for my cockerel? The fox had him in its mouth, but we were able to scare the fox away. There is bite wounds on the chickens back.
We have penicillin, should we give that to him and if so what dosage?
Thanks in advance for any help.
I will...
Thanks for replying.
I could separate her and make sure she's eating enough and monitor her crop. I think it empties ok, and her breath doesn't smell sour or bad.
She's only 2 1/2 or 3, and she hasn't layed in about a year, so she could have reproductive issues. What would the signs and...
Hello,
I have a silkie hen who has green poop and some of it is sticking to her butt feathers. She's also losing weight and acting a little lethargic. I don't see any blood of red bits in her poop like you usually see with coccidiosis, so maybe its worms?
She's been acting slow for a while and...
I'm pretty sure the quail egg is dead... I think it died when the power went out. I'll leave it in until the 18th or 19th day but I don't think it will hatch.
I'm going to set two silkie eggs today or tomorrow though, so I think they should hatch around May 4th or 5th, so I'll join the may...
I candled my quail egg last night. It is definitely the only one alive :(
I couldn't really see movement though. Should it be moving a lot? Yesterday was day 10. I did see what looked like a heartbeat, in one place. But other than that not really any signs of movement. I also cant see an...
The power went out at my house last night but fortunately we have a woodstove so I just put the incubator under the stove for the night and stayed there to monitor the temperature and humidity. I think it stayed about right.
I also candled the eggs and as far as I can tell only one is alive out...
Yeah. I've already lost a few to something, quite possibly Mareks.
A vet isn't really an option right now, I could do a necropsy if she does die but I did that for one of the other ones and it didn't go very well.
Does your Brahmas skin look similar to the picture I posted?
Heres more pictures.
I did look at the skin on her neck and it is really bumpy and dry looking. I know Mareks can affect birds skin so now I'm wondering if that's what this is...
I took her outside for a bit and she seemed to enjoy that.
