Cockerel attacked by fox, wounds in back. PLEASE HELP!

My pullet was attacked by a dog, which ripped a 2 inch patch of her skin completely off. I made her a chicken apron out of a clean sock, and dropped colloidal silver on the open wound every day. She grew her skin and feathers back in a short period.
I'm glad she was ok. I will probably make him something like that too.
Healing hen and purple lotion. Works wonders. Separate the bird honestly we bring ours inside when hurt.
I have him separated right now, and I definitely wont put him back with the others until he is mostly healed.
A non pain relieving triple antibiotic ointment works better than neosporin, and the pain medication in pain relieving antibiotic ointment can be bad for poultry. Have you dealt with the fox? It doesn’t appear too bad, chickens can heal incredibly well.
Thats what we used. The fox ran into the woods, but there is another chicken that he killed before we could stop him and he has come back a few times looking for it. We do have the rest of our chickens in the coop.
Hope he feels better, I agree, clean him up, and put Neosporin on it.
Thanks.

Neosporin is a triple antibiotic.

This is a myth.

When my rooster was attacked by a dog last winter we treated the wound with Neosporin also but we left him with his ladies. Since he was our only rooster, his position in the flock was secure and I think it was less stressful than an new environment would have been.

Get the fox!
Maybe you could call animal control to set a trap for it.
Or get an electronic dog barking alarm, to startle him when he sneaks around.
I would put the bird back in with his flock as soon as he is foraging happily again. The longer he is kept away, the harder his re-entry will be. Outfit him with his anti pick outfit, and treat everyone as you release him.

I think there is probably more than one fox that lives in our area. We hadn't seen one recently until now.
We could get an alarm, yes. In the past we have just left a radio going so the fox hears voices and thinks people are around.

I will put him back soon, but I am waiting until his cuts heal a little and there isn't an open wound. I hold him all the time anyway, so he is pretty comfortable being away from his flock.
