Introducing new quail to my little flock

One of my lovely female coturnix died yesterday when coming round from an anaesthetic to remove a large egg she was unable to pass. She was such a character and besides being sad at loosing her, I am now worried about how the remaining two females and one male will be together. The male already...

    Egg ??

Thank you everyone for your helpful advice. I've had normal eggs for the past few days (I have three females, but I only get two eggs per day), so hopefully it was just a one off. I have now increased the pellets to a higher protein ones and give the oyster shells in a separate dish. Thank you!

    Egg ??

I feed them quail breeder pellets (with 20% protein), and I mix in a handful of crushed oyster shells and some seeds. I also give them fresh greens and sweetcorn and mealworms. I'm wondering if I'm giving too many mealworms, or not enough oyster shell.

    Male quails fighting

I have 5 quail, and since hatching I am now able to identify them as 3 females and 2 males. I keep them just because they're lovely (not for the meat) and their eggs. Recently, the males have started fighting (no injuries, just chasing a feather pulling). One of the males, the smaller one, seems...

    Quail food - which pellets

Hi, I have 5, 6 week old quails. I am very new to keeping quails, and am getting concerned about what to feed them. I started them on baby chick crumb and yesterday moved them on to finisher pellets (for turkeys and cockerels), but I'm concerned that these are two big for them to manage. There...
