    Buff goslings skittish

Quote: Thats good than, cause I want them to be friendly but definetly dont want them thinking I am a tall stange looking goose who they can treat as one. So maybe things are right were they should be. I'll just keep doing what I am doing and see how it turns out.

    Buff goslings skittish

Quote: Yeah this seems to be just like mine. They are perfectly fine around us just not when we grab or put our hands out to pet or hold them. I dont necessarily want them to be jumping all over us just not mean when they grow up because they never got used to us.

    Buff goslings skittish

I got 2 female(I believe) Buff goslings about a week ago. They seem alittle skittish from us. They come up to the side of the Rubbermaid brooder but dont like to be picked up. They run and cower alittle in the corner when we put our hand in. We held them a decent amount the first few days and...

Chickens will not go in coop! Help!

Quote: I am currently having these problems as well. Your idea is what I was thinking I might try. I assume they get used to going up and down the coop ladders or steps eventually?? This is the first group that have done this.

Geese & Chickens - Can they live together?

Sorry if I got under someones skin. Never said all chinese were aggresive. Only shared what I read and what I have seen. I wasnt attacking the breed, it was just an opinion based on other people posts and my own experiance with geese and observation of what is being said.

Geese & Chickens - Can they live together?

I know nothing about geese, exepct what I have read and the 2 Buff goslings I just got. The common thread here seems to be the Chinese breed of geese. I think there aggressiveness is too much for other animals sometimes and even people. Theres Chinese geese at a small fish pond nearby and they...

Quote: Lol right? That video is my best friend recently. Our feed store is getting Toulouse at the end of this month and I practiced on the magpie ducklings they had, for what ever reason I know I sexed my first two right, a boy and a girl, but I put them back and couldn't recreate the process...

    Bought 2 Buffs today

Its only five I'll have to check unless they throw them in with a hatcheries choice straight run order. Which I will then throw a fit . I will be watching the video like 10 times before I go down to pick them up.

Sorry to be asking all these questions but when I pick up my 2 goslings this week I really dont want to end up with 2 ganders. Is it as easy as it looks?

    Bought 2 Buffs today

Quote: Yeah I was affraid that it was going to have to be that way. Have you ever vent sexed before? And if so, how was your accuracy? I watched the video before and it didnt seem to hard, just have to be careful. Maybe I will get lucky and one of the feed store employees will know how but I...

    Bought 2 Buffs today

True, but we are talking day old goslings, so i dont think there will be a size difference to tell from. I was wondering if other than vent sexing if you can tell any difference by color. Like maybe the males are a shade darker or lighter. Anybody????

    Bought 2 Buffs today

    ducks vs. geese-update

Oh I forgot one important fact. I have a 6 foot block wall all the way around my backyard up to the sides of the house. there is a vehicle gate on the side where they could look out but I doubt they would like the gravel on the feet over in that area. So they would never really see anything out...

    ducks vs. geese-update

Got some questions regarding the 2. I posted in the geese forum and am not sure which is better. As in my geese post(https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=477637), I live in a subdivision with 8 chicks(hens) and was wanting something else. I considered geese but just am a...
