That is correct I've lost a lot learning and have finally got it right. I incubate in an air conditioned room at 55% at 100*for 21 days then move to a hatcher with 75% humidity and temp lowered to 97. Hatch rate is now 75%. Standing eggs up in a tray and rotating every 4 hours. Have no bad legs...
Had a pheasant chick 3 weeks old with all the meat gone off the wing and a little on his chest. Lived 4 days then died. Found one dead in the outside pen 4 weeks old and flesh gone to the bone on one side and part of its head. Anyone know what could be happening? Bugs, worms, lice? Can't see...
Tried turning down on next batch. Now 4 hatch fine, 2 zip and then get a clear coat surrounding them and die. Suffocating I suppose now. The gluey substance is gone but now its a glaze type on them.
I had the same prob when I started hatching pheasants and used pine shavings. They were eating it and not food. After 2-4 days they were dying. Used hay, straw,or rags and it will be fine. Haven't lost one since.
Any time I try below 60% humidity at hatch I get shrink wrap and dead chicks. Over 75% I drown them or they get sticky glue on the chicks and they suffocate.
