    Raccoon Apocalypse

    Tree in middle of chicken pen that coons came down. Place in fence where they dug under buried fence. There is coulee (creek) right behind pen that coons travel on. Located in South Louisiana, Lafayette. I am locking up coop at night presently and this has prevented any attacks.

    Raccoon Apocalypse

    I am overrun with raccoons. In the past 9 months I have trapped or shot 17 coons. Is there something that can be used around the pen to repel raccoons? I have lost 7 chickens so far.

    Hen is 12 mo. old. I gave her some bread soaked in olive oil. She has quit the little shriek, but still walks around with mouth open and shakes head every 30 seconds or so. Looks kind of like she is sneezing.

    Thanks to everyone for the welcome. Heading out to finish the run at the school today. We are having a lot of rain lately that has delayed the finish. Should I consider putting hay down in the run so it won't get so muddy? South Louisiana has a fair amount of rain year round.
