Hen is shrieking

Just started this afternoon, walking around holding mouth open for a few seconds and gives off a shrieking sound then shakes head. Anyone have any idea why she is doing this?

Is there anything stuck in her mouth?

Sometimes mine do this is they eat a lot of food and then go get a drink. I just massage the food down by the esophagus and it seems to help. Not sure if this is the case with your hen, but you could try it.

I think they do it to move stuff around in the esophagus to help them swallow.

Hen is 12 mo. old. I gave her some bread soaked in olive oil. She has quit the little shriek, but still walks around with mouth open and shakes head every 30 seconds or so. Looks kind of like she is sneezing.

I've had her for about 6 months.

A short video uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo with a link here would be good. It sounds like she could be sneezing and shaking her head to dislodge mucus which could be signs of a respiratory disease, but the video could help. Do you see any nasal drainage or wet nostrils, bubbles in eye, or rattly breathing.
