Got simple one. Does it matter if the rooster or the hen is the blue egg layer when making olive eggers? I'll like the rooster to be the blue egg layer to give me more options for crosses on the hen side. Leghorn, welsummer, maran or pure (same breed as rooster) options.

I've read that if the dark egg layer is the rooster, there is a better chance that daughters will lay eggs of a darker olive shade, rather than a lighter one.

The 1st chick is a cross between my cream legbar rooster and 3 brown leghorn hens.My broody hatched 4 of the eggs.

One of the following brown egg layers laid the brown egg the 2nd chick hatched from (welsummer, blk Australorp or Sapphire Gem)
