completely normal. wait til their 5-6 weeks old, they sit around and try to stand, but normally just wobble back down. if you dont want to fatten them up so much, pull the food every 12 hours, but beware of monsters ready to eat your arm off when you go to put the food back after 12 hour...
i think what you fail to think about, is that the chicks are hatched, and they can be with someone you do not know how they treat chickens, they can be in the 'industry' in crap covered floors of Tyson or Purdue, never seeing a bit of green grass or sunshine, or they can be in my coop or...
Hi all...I am a chicken guy really, but this year we got two call ducklings. At least I was told they were call ducklings...they seem to be growing pretty big....or at least bigger than I expected for call ducks.
First question is there any way I can tell whether I have call ducklings or...
Ok, so here is my dilemma. Ive had hens for about a year, and recently introduced a Salmon Favorelle Rooster to the flock. They all get along, and the roo has had his fun with almost every hen in the flock.
How do I knwo they are fertile, hatching eggs, vs non fertile. Ive candled them after...
Hi everyone...I am a chicken guy. I am picking up 4 call ducklings tomorrow. They are 2 days old. I am thinking of getting a plastic tote container, using hardware wire to raise off the bottom and put wood chips below the wire. feeder and waterer. If I wanted to not do the hardware wire as...

I am not sure what to do next??? I have a flock of 10 hens, 4 barred rocks, 2 ri reds and 4 ameracaunas. I noticed a while back that I had mites (small, gnat sized, tan colored bugs) all over the barred rocks and one of the reds. I dusted them with permetherin (sp?) poultry dust and I have...
So silly question....but we noticed with one of our Amauracanas would arch her back and lift up her wings a bit whenever approached to be picked up. Then I nticed a couple of the other Amauracanas started doing it...now our entire flock of 10 basically all do the same thing.
Just curious...
Now that its warming up here in New England, the chickens are hanging out in the run most of the day. I DLM inside the coop, and it is dry, odor free and for the most part, fly free.
Outside is 12x10 run attached to the coop. I have 10 hens, see signature for roll call. Anyway...like I said...

I tore out 6 nesting boxes, put in three roosts, and then built the run next to it from the ground up...
