I have 5 quail in a small off the ground coop. I have an enclosed section but I am wondering at what temp do I need to provide a light or something to raise the temp. Also, is some hay enough? I live in Southern NM so it won’t likely get below the low 20s worst case for a night or 2.

If I use a feeder designed to auto fill do quail eat continually or will they stop when they get full. I guess could I be over feeding them? Looking at Bob Whites.

i really don’t want my droppings from my quail own dropping in the ground. What is a method used to catch droppings? I see a lot of pen designs but I am looking for a design set up to catch the droppings so I clean it out every week or so.

I would check with game and fish also as well as city/county regulations. In NM I was told that permits would be required if I was going to have over 12 or if I was going to be selling birds or eggs but even that was only about $20.00
