My Chicks
Hi! Welcome to my world! I had many animals when I was a child: chickens, geese, ducks, turkeys, turkins, guineas, pigs, horses, cows, rabbits, pigeons and....oh yes, cats, dogs, ferrets, hamsters, and ... what else is left???
Now many many years later, I felt the need to get back...
Hi guys!
I am thinking of ordering the recycled pink cartons, they are made of fiber. What do you think would work better - a label that sticks on or a stamp? Labels will be easier for me and cheaper.
Let me know what you think. Thanks.
Thanks Mother Jean for the indepth reply.
I will try to answer your questions in the order you asked them.
Yes, Daisy is 4months old, have been feeding her the medicated chick crumbles. No other chicks have experienced any health issues.
I understand your statment about perhaps over taxing...
Thanks so much for the info, I just looked at your page, what a beaufiful coop you have. I am new to all of this, but love this website and really look forward to looking at some of your pages, if you don't mind!
Just realized which one of my americaunas started laying! It is Louise, from...
Hi everyone!
Can anyone point me in the direction of an egg chart for breeds? I have frizzles, americaunas, self blue old english, barred rock and partridge rock hens, and just this week received my first egg from my americauna Louise. It was not the size that I expected, as she is a large...
Thanks so much for sharing your experiences and guidance. I love her, she is so beautiful, but the constant butt baths are tough to deal with and the condition keeps returning. I have done some tiny water enemas like you talked about, I have used olive oil as a lubricant and healing property...
Not sure where the word picky came from, think my original word was replaced, her cloacal area is what I was talking about - sorry about that. So yes it is inverted and enlarged. I have tried vinegar in the water, didn't help.
Purchased my Barred Rock hen (Daisy) in May from local feed store when she was a week old. Got her home and realized her picky cavity was impacted, didn't think she would make it. I nursed her with chick butt baths and she seemed to clear up.
I had been told by a feed store to give...
Hi Ya'll
Question,
I have americaunas, frizzles, partridge rock, barred rock and a self-blue old english hen, and got my first eggs this week (sep 2010) from the americauna - will any of these breeds stop laying in the winter?
I live in NM, have cold winters, also does anyone have heaters...
Hi ya'll
I have fifteen chickens, about 20 weeks old, have lived in a coop and outside top fence covered chicken run their entire life, the top fence covered run is about 6 feet high, and inside of this, they have flown up to the top.
I have a larger yard area I want to allow them to roam...
Hi there!
These are the four blue/green eggs that I received this week! My americauna's I believe, but can't be sure! They are the two oldest chickens. The rest are about a month behind them. Brought them home as chicks in April. I thought americauna eggs would be larger, but maybe...
Hello
I am east of Albuquerque, and just starting out. Had a farm as a child, and now I am expanding my family by adding chicks. Purchased my first two chicks this week, and am searching for frizzles in the area - but no luck yet. Am open to purchasing anywhere. Drop me a line, say hello...
