Thanks for the compliment, Candice, but the credit goes to you as well! I may have provided good quality chicks, but you've obviously raised them well...more than 50% of the equation!
Candice,
There is an address to send a paypal payment to. I'll need to get it for you.
For others in the ABPC -- as Chris mentioned, we're going to put out the next newsletter in March. March 1 will be the deadline if anyone has anything they'd like to contribute -- or want to advertise...
Well, we've been calling him Five-Toed Louie. I posted these pics on the Buckeye Club facebook page, and the breeder came clean. Seems there was a Silkie rooster running around loose that may have "jumped the fence" for some lovin'.
Unfortunately, caveat emptor is never more important than...
Fun, huh?
Now what if I told you this was from a "buckeye egg" marked as to the line of buckeye? Seems there may have been a bit of something else somewhere else, eh?
The point is, no matter whether you're buying day-old chicks or hatching eggs, be sure of your source! Ask for references...
Here's some fun for a Monday morning :) Let's play 20 questions!!
What would you call this chicken?
He has a single comb, a tufted head...
Feathered shanks...
and FIVE toes...(also visible on left foot in above picture)
Tell me your thoughts....and I'll let you know what...

Do you have any of his offspring?
No, his hatchmate is in the breeding pen.
cgmccary:
Red tailed Hawk?
Yes. Big one, but not large enough to carry the cockerel off. DH chased him away.
ggibson:
Was this one of the ones I saw at Hutch?
Yes, this was my #2 pick from my 2011...
We lost a good one yesterday. #59, who didn't get a name, died defending the flock from a hawk. The hawk got him, but the rest were safe.

We attended the Missouri State Poultry Association Annual Fall Show yesterday (APA double judged). I am very pleased to say two of our cockerels won Champion American and Reserve Champion American in BOTH shows!!
Judging the first show was Larry Denny, an APA General judge out of Missouri...
