    Little duckling has been succssfully handed over to a lady from bird rescue nz :) he has a little friend waiting for him and the lady seemed very nice! Thanks to everyone for your input! Will definitely miss the little one! Have decided to get ducks when we are older and in a better position...

    Have found a lady who raises and releases ducklings, going to drop baby duck off with her tomorrow, she even has a friend for him to play with! Another solo duckling although hers is a few weeks old..hope itll be ok!

    Yes almost every duck species here is a pest! Mallards destroy farming crops and so most people shoot them or dont really care about them.

    I have emailed a few places as ideally I would like it to be raised with other ducks but no emails back yet.. I googled mallard and that is definitely the species. It is considered a pest species in nz so I dont even know if anyone will take it.. I hope so though!

    This is the little one.. It has been eating the chick crumble and oats but I'll go and get some worms and bugs too.. we were thinking about getting a baby chick to raise it with?

    Thanks guys, I live in a very small rural town so there isnt a wildlife rehab that I'm aware of.. also I only moved here a few months ago! I have been to the vets and they suggested oats but then another vet said that's not a good idea? I'll defs check out the duck forums!

    Hi there! My partner brought home a duckling he found all alone in a paddock today and I have never raised birds let alone a duck and I'm so scared it'll die! I've heard they can die quite easily! I currently have baby chicken crumble which i have soaked in water, cat food biscuits also soaked...
