So a while back I posted a picture of a chick that I had no idea if it was a male or female. Well two days before Thanksgiving my "cockerel" named Pirujo laid a green egg!!! Confirming that he's actually a female Easter Egger. Also now we need to find her a new name so I also wanted to ask if...
So I got an easter egger and my RIR roosters been fertilizing her eggs, and I plan to hatch a few eggs from them because I plant o start my own breeding project ( https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/les-acajous.1280182/)
And am aiming to keep the blue/green gene present so I'm expecting...

Hi I have an RIR rooster whos been mating with my ISA ( aka Golden Comet, or Cinnamon Queen)
And I'm thinking of incubating a few, and I know they won't hatch out being ISA because of there hybrids but does anyone have pictures of what they'll look like as chicks and when they're mature?

So about 2 days ago I put one of my EE egg in the incubator that had a crack on the shell, and right now after reading if eggs could hatch with crack I read the hatch rate would be low. So decided to take it out and examine it if it had actually begun developing and there was this white circlish...
So I just made an incubator and have been monitoring it for about a little while now and it has been in the 97- 101 degrees zone and my humidity is at 60%. Could eggs still hatch or does it need to be near 70% as I've read? Also if it does need to be there how could I increase humidity. Thx

So I've been thinking, next year I want to make my backyard into a wild environment for my chickens. I've read that chickens don't really like cut grass lawn and are more interested in an overgrown environment with grass and many other plants. A that's what I want to have for chickens o I was...
So over this summer, I got 4 hens from this ad at my local feed store. An even had them for about 4 months now and I've been wondering what breeds are they, or if they are mixed chickens. So I'm 99% sure that one of them is an RIR because she looks so much like my others. One whose name is...
Oh my god, I went to go check on my chickens and my goodness there was a raccoon, Yes a raccoon on the back of my coop eating my hen's eggs ( not fertilized ). I'm so happy that it didn't kill any of my hens or chicks but I'm still wondering how it got in because there are only 3 entrances/exits...
