As I posted a few months ago I have to rehome my perkin ducks. I have two a year old both female. I finally found a new home with someone I actually know yay!!! However I’m so sad and nervous for them. Can you tell me is their readjustment easy They will have each other, their house and pool...
It’s killing me to post this but I am needing to rehome my 2 perkin ducks. They will be a year old in August. We have been battling predators to the point my girls are not able to free range at all. Between hawks, owls, foxes and raccoons it’s not safe. It is also not fair to them to be locked...

the supply store is out of my ducks normal food and we are totally out. They have been on Putin’s flock raiser crumbles since they hatched and are about 8 moths old. Both are female and laying eggs. What would be the best to switch to at moments notice? Help at the store now.
Raccoons and foxes I think are the most common predators possibly a coyote. We also have lots of owls and hawks as to why they don’t free range unless the dogs and someone is outside with them. I will look up skirting and see. Is there a certain gauge I need to look for?
I have a duck run and house that ducks spend majority of day in then I lock them up every evening/ night. We built it last year with chicken wire not realizing that wasn’t predator proof till after it was done. I couldn’t afford to change it so I lock them up at night so they are safe. Since...
Oh man. Not sure I can stand to see them be mean to the new ones. These are pets not for eggs or meat. But I enjoy them so much I wanted a few more maybe I will just keep my two instead of risking them being hurt or bullied
I am wanting to add a couple more ducks to my 2 exsisting female perkin ducks who will be around 9 months old when I get them. I have read some about having to separate them but I mostly read it’s with the drakes. Both of mine are female. Will I have to separate them or with them being young and...
I slowly introduced my labs to my ducklings. I had ducks in a wire cage to protect from dogs Incase and also so they could be around each other and get use to each other for several days before I let them out together. You may do something like that maybe even vise verse with puppies in kennel...
How soon do I refrigerate them. How long are they good for? My ducks both are female just eat flock raiser crumbles mixed with 25% oatmeal. Do I need to add something now that she is laying eggs? Or change to a new food? Anything else I need to be aware of. This is all new and exciting.
Today I went out to add more straw to their house and I found an egg. I was so excited. It’s the first egg we have had. No clue what to do with it but that will be another thread as I’m clueless and learning as I go. I didn’t think my girls would lay eggs in the winter especially being only...
Sorry for the delay somehow my notifications were not emailed. It’s still snowy and cold so haven’t had a chance to do permanent repairs but they are fixed for now so they are safe from predators. However we have ice tonight and another big snow storm coming Friday/ Saturday. I’m hoping no...
