I coated the whole thing in the perch and hen mite and lice exterminator, and also lathered the tops in vaseline but I was also wondering if I should just take them down and put up new ones.... I will do that tomorrow, my only reason for wanting to be done with the treatment is these girls are...
So i’ve been dealing with scaly leg mites for the past week, i’ve done vaseline treatments on everybody 3 times including scrubbing it in with a toothbrush and i’ve used poultry mite spray on the legs and perches and the coop, my coop floor is lined with diatomaceous earth along with the nesting...
We decided to build a new coop for my main flock and then the other into a broodery as you guys suggested, we started the new 8 foot coop today and it’s turning out great so far!
I know it’s probably the last thing you want to hear but i’d return it and build your own :hmm the “wood” they use on those is going to fall apart so easily and not hold up in any kind of weather. I live in Minnesota where we get tons of snow and that coop would never keep my birds both warm and...

Sawdust!! it’s super cheap and you can usually find it anywhere from a local sawmill, when ever my run gets muddy I just shovel some sawdust in there and it clears it right up and the chickens love kicking it around.
Update: it’s been 5 minutes since our last feeding, our stomachs growling and our peckers empty... if we sit here long enough the grub has to drop eventually.... we hope
I have 6 including the 3 babies, I got them all from homes that were over run so my goal was just to give them a better life! I haven’t had any issues yet besides introducing the babies to my older 6 month olds and the 4 year old, the older ones are picking at the babies everytime I try to let...
