That's what I thought too...

Well, unless I'm an idiot and its normal for this duck to be twice the size of the others and then attempt to mate with one of them, then yes... the male is noisier.
The hens gently coo.. very nice.
Turns out one of my beloved white Pekins is a male... he has got to go though because he is loud (my neighbors probably don't appreciate it). He is 6 months old and healthy; I want him to go to a good home. I'll meet someone near Snohomish county WA.
What's the deal with me getting "pullets"...
The poo was white and runny; it washed away easily in the bath. He's having a tough time walking around right now and is very lethargic. I gave them vitamins in the water from day one and just gave them their first container of pure water today. It doesnt look good for this little guy.
I...
Feeding them non-medicated 17% protein feed. The duckling poo'd a little bit and i suppose its fair to say that I have just not actually WATCHED him poo. I was very careful with the vent sexing, I did read they are fragile.
Could I be freaking out and this just is how males look? I just flipped the duckling over and did the maneauver i read on how to sex them and i think it is a male.... pretty sure... I still have not seen it poo though,...
I have a week old Golden Layer duckling that appears to have a bulging or distended vent. I have not seen him/her poo in the bath and I'm worried!!! He/she is in the bath now and I hope that will work.
Also, the bird feels must thicker "full" almost than the Peking one of the same age.
Very...
My co-worker was just telling me that I am indeed the walking contradiction. I have chickens, think ducklings are the cutest thing in the world, build fast cars, cook great food and am an avid firearm enthusiast. My little duckies took their first swim in the bucket that I use for the brass...
Phew... White shavings it is.... I'm going to pull out my respirator to swap out the brooder.... I gave the little fuzzy-butts swim time last night and then after taking them back down to the box, my head felt like it was packed with styrofoam!!! UGH!
Ducks for Christmas must be one of the...

I plan to have them send me out two more (if they will). Ideally, they'd be all females because I don't want more cuteness popping up this spring!! hahaha!!
Thanks for the good info; keep it coming please. As I was rushing to get them set up (was heading out the door to the doctor when they were delivered) I sliced Romaine up really thin too so it was like baby grass blades. My house is being painted as I type this so this is all working out great...
I was out and about yesterday and saw a member here in her red CRV and thought about how bad I want ducks. I already have 5 hens (2 australorps, two Ameracuanas and one Silkie) and when I got back home a peeping package arrived. One of the little things was dead, one dying and two were perky and...
Golden Ameracuana Rooster... free.. You pick up or I can meet you around Snohomish county.
He is very handsome, excuse the lack of pic for now... but LOUD! (duh)
I live in a neighborhood where the other humans are not taking kindly to crowing at 7am... we know how this goes.
So... with that...

Dells at Monroe is a good place if you just want egg-layers. I got all my stuff and 6 chicks for like 72 bucks out the door. I used a large Rubbermade tote the first few weeks. Look around and there are many poor schmucks like me who have old (yet new) gear that is sitting unused!
