    No Eggs, can't tell why!

No extra feathers lying around yet and the Florida weather still feels like summer. I thought they were too young for a first molt (15-18 months, then annual). But with nature, there's no "hard" rules I guess! Thank you for your insight!

    No Eggs, can't tell why!

Cool isn't the issue here. I'm not looking for chicks either, so I'll focus on the broody one. I've got 4 different breeds: blue Andalusian, Easter egger, golden laced Wyandotte, and my broody one the barred rock. I will update with any changes.

    No Eggs, can't tell why!

I have 4 hens, all 10 months old to the day. I'm on day 4 of no eggs (I was getting 4-6 a day since they started laying). No roosters. No predators or signs of entry into or out of the coop/run (fully enclosed). All hens alert, active, eating and drinking. No other signs of illness. No...

    Runt of the brood

I know I am probably worrying over nothing, but my flock is 4 weeks old and my little Golden Laced Wyandotte does not want to grow. She is eating and drinking, active and alert, and her vent is clear and poop is normal. She is still just about half the size of her sisters (including the other...

    Wing Clipping and Coop Preparation

Thanks everyone!!! I think I will reduce the size of the coop and increase the size of the run/fenced range area. I had always intended on covering all of those areas. I want to be able to let the chickens roam the rest of the yard when I am out gardening or lounging in the yard (thus the 4-foot...

    Wing Clipping and Coop Preparation

I am new to BYC and before I actually dive into the chickens I want to prep my space. I have approximately 12 ft by 40 ft for my chicken coop and run. I also plan to let my chickens roam my yard when I am home to monitor them. I plan to divide my chicken space in half with one half for the...

    New to Chickens

    (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I am new to chickens! I just bought my first house and it has a ton of yard. I checked my local codes and can keep chickens. I am a planner so just doing my homework now. (2) How many chickens do you have right now? 0 but I want...
