    Ameraucana hen has been “off”

That was my thought. Any ideas how long it would take her to get better once the bugs are gone?

    Ameraucana hen has been “off”

Yes, she did have bugs near her vent. What they are I’m not sure. I did a permethrin dip on her last night and didn’t see any bugs today.

    Ameraucana hen has been “off”

Mary, my Ameraucana has been off since April. I thought she stopped laying until I started discovering shell less eggs. I haven’t found any of those shell less eggs in the past 3 weeks. She just doesn’t seem to be producing. Her symptoms; lethargic, fluffed up, no tail feathers, very watery...

shell-less eggs under roost now a lethargic hen

Hey there, I too have a hen who laid an egg with no shell, fully intact yolk until she turned around and ate it right away. I happened to walk into the coop right as she laid this egg otherwise I would never have known it was an issue with her. This hen has been a bit of a problem child from...

    Hen can’t walk/stand

Shoot honestly it didn’t even cross my mind. The sciatic nerves was thickening and one side was significantly larger then the other. Interesting because it was the side she tended to spin toward when sitting on the ground. Her liver had 3 small pea size tumors that were round and white. My...

    Hen can’t walk/stand

Thank you. It was tough to make the call today but she was starting to show signs that she was beginning to have some respiratory issue. The vet did a quick necropsy, we didn’t send anything out. She was pretty confident that we were dealing with Mareks. There is another flock in our area...

    Hen can’t walk/stand

Hey all. We put our Heckity girl down this evening. We did a necropsy in her and it is Mareks. She had enlarged sciatic nerves and growths on her liver. I’m so scared I’m going to lose everyone now. Vet did feel the poop is wormy poop.

    Hen can’t walk/stand

Here’s her poop it’s very runny and very stinky. She hasn’t started laying yet... I’m wondering if that’s it. So call me dumb but the vent is the only hole she has right? I pushed around between her pubic bones to check for an egg and couldn’t feel any. Is it possible to feel one?

    Hen can’t walk/stand

I fear Mareks as well. We aren’t giving up on her yet. She’s got some vitamins in her water, I keep moving the food/water close to her as she moves around, she at a whole scrambled egg earlier. I’m trying and hoping she snaps out of it. We don’t have any roosters, she hasn’t started laying...

    Hen can’t walk/stand

Hi there, I have a hen that started showing some strange symptoms yesterday. I can out to check on them and give them some treats and she couldn’t stand well or would stand and fall and catch herself with her wing. She is worse today; legs won’t work at all and she’s just sitting on her side...
