I'm in Louisiana and it's been raining lately and brought in a cold-ish front. It's about 65 today but will be warmer by easter. Its just a double measure to make sure they don't get too cold with the ac on in my house and so if its cooler at night outside one night they won't get hurt.
Okay, she got out and the yolk is still out a tiny tiny bit. I put her back in her shell gently, put her in a cup with a warm, wet paper towel and I'm misting her yolk with warm water ever hour to keep it from drying out.
My little duckling that I posted about a couple days ago still hasn't tried to zip. She keeps pecking and shell is coming off, but the membrane is still intact. Her yolk hasn't completely absorbed either and it's been almost three days. She's really big and doesn't seem to be able to move...
She's still in membrane, she broke a ton of her shell off, but not through the membrane and it has a bunch of veins on it, so I'm not helping her make a bigger hole in that. I have kept her in a damp paper towel to keep her from drying out and getting shrink wrapped. I'm letting her finish...
