We've got Black Copper Marans and they do fine during the hot summers.

The saddle feathers can take up to 5 months to come in.

Agreed. Rhode Island Reds, Leghorns and Red Sex-Links. :)

How old is this 'hen'? Can you attach some photos? Hens can sometimes act like roosters..but I have a feeling it might be a cockerel. :)
