I ordered these Brown Leghorns as cockerels from Hoover’s Hatchery. They are 9 weeks old. Their combs have gotten bigger but are not very red. They are very alert of the surroundings. Please let me know what you think.
Is there a way to tell the difference between cockerel and pulleys at 3 weeks. This one is always alert and braver than the rest of the chicks. Also lots of barring in color already.
He/she is 3 weeks old. Is already starting to develop Red feathering on the wings. From other posts this is usually a sign of a cockerel. Does that mean this one's a boy?
Thanks for the great replies and ideas. I do like to spoil my chicks. They have a small dirt bath starting at 3 weeks. And we have been having them eat metalwork out of our hands also starting at 3 weeks. Already have the chick grit for them to rummage thru. I'm going to try scrambled eggs for...
