Hi all- I was wondering if anyone has heard of this breed? I saw some posted on craigslist, and they look beautiful. Does anyone have info/experiences with this breed? I would love to hatch out some of their eggs.

If you want to go back to crumble feed, use duck tape to cover the screen on the bottom of the feeder. I have found that covering both sides works well for at least a few years.

Where on the chicks foot would you place the clip? I could see having a problem developing if the device somehow restricts their bone/tissue growth. If its just a band around the leg, leave it somewhat loose and adjust it as needed.

Yes the game bird feed will be higher in protein, but it wont hurt them. Instead the chickens will most likely not digest the extra protein because their bodies do not require that much. Now because game bird feed is higher protein than a layer ration, it will cost more per bag to feed. it...

my chickens are also going through a molt. I feed them some moistened cat food, it has 30% protein from animal sources. this helps them grow back their feathers faster.

Have you seen the sick chicken eating or drinking recently? It may help to separate the sick one and offer her fresh water and food. you could try wetting the food and making a wattery mash. If she has diarrhea she may be getting dehydrated. If she won't drink the water on her own, you can...

hens will lay eggs for about a month, and then hatch them out. so if an egg can be in summer heat for a month and still grow a chick, why not store fresh eggs with out refrigeration. I have heard that thats how they did it in the old days, eggs were stored in a cool dry place like a cellar.
