I got my newest batch of chickens yesterday since we are trying to self isolate against the mess going on. When I got home, I noticed the Barred Rock pullet has feathers that go out instead of laying against the body. Does it look like she may be a frizzle?
This morning I treated her wounds some more. Her eye was still closed, so I gently opened it which she didn't seem to mind. I didn't see any damage, but I'm going to keep a close eye on it. Honestly though, I think she's going to be okay.
I will do. She's staying downstairs tonight. It's unfinished, but there's a heater to keep it warm on down there, and I'm sure I'm not going to sleep. I've been a mess all day about this.
We do know who they belong to. They've attacked some neighbor dogs before. Animal control has been there many times. Unfortunately, if the dogs are contained by the time they get there, and we don't have proof that they were on our property off leash or they attacked our animals, they can't do...
This happened about twelve hours ago. She just came back about two hours ago. I don't have pictures of her wounds right now. The other eye is open though, and zero issues. I'll try to get water into her though.
We had a pack of 4 dogs come into our property and go after our chickens in their run. We were alerted by our Pyrenees who was in the house, but she woke us up. I saw one with a chicken in it's mouth running, and we thought they had gotten a silkie. Luckily the silkie came back quickly, and was...
I had posted here sometime in the last two weeks about integrating my two new silkies into my flock. I had ended up making their own run, and a makeshift coop so they could see them without getting attacked.
We got dumped by a lot of rain for the first time since having chickens, and the coop...
Chicken feed is kept in a shed, which is probably where I would also keep the goat feed. I don't plan on having a feed room in the barn, I'm way too forgetful with closing doors
It would be a barn, and the coop structure would be in the barn (with an access door for cleaning it in there.) Nesting boxes would be on the outside wall outside of the barn. Then there would be an enclosed run that would come off one end that goats can not get into.
My husband and I are trying to plan out our goat barn, and we have plans to build a massive coop around the same time. I was watching videos about coops the style I like, and one of them had the coop built into a shed, which made me think maybe we can build our coop into the goat barn.
They...
They get to free range all day every day for the next week since I have to do a lot of work outside. So of course they all go to the area that's mainly pine straw instead of all the good grass and clover lol
Their enclosed area isn't big, but they aren't kept locked in there (except for during this integration). They have around a tenth of an acre in their outdoor enclosure (which is going to be bigger once we cut a tree down and move the coop to the permanent place), and when we are outside, they...
The enclosed run isn't very big, but the outdoor run is actually fairly large. The coop is fairly large as well. Typically, in the morning when I let them out, I also open the door so they can go to the outdoor run. So there definitely isn't a lack of space for them at all, but I appreciate your...
Hi everyone! I recently added two silkies to my life, and was hoping introductions with my juvenile (about two months) birds would go well but it hasn't. My silver leghorn always starts harassing the smaller silkie, and then a few others will start. So, after reading a bunch of threads, I...
I knew when I got my chickens, there was only a 95% accuracy that they were sexed correctly. I'm beginning to think one of my turkens is a Cockerel. I'm not a pro, and this is my first time really raising chickens, so I was hoping you could tell me if I'm crazy or still too early to tell. My...
Hi everyone! I've been getting a lot of your page pull up in my Google searches, so I decided to join.
I've wanted chickens for YEARS but we lived in a neighborhood that they weren't allowed. Last June, however, we moved to the country on 3 acres. We didn't get chickens right away, we have...
