I am getting onto the Vitamin B so thanks for that!
is it too late to brace his legs and make a shoe as i did when he was 2 days old? I can't find any info on older birds with this problem. I tried moving the tendon but had no luck.... his leg feels solid with nothing moving unlike the youtube...
Hi everyone
Healy, my guinea fowl was the only one who hatched out of a group of eggs. He was born with a splay leg, I made him a boot and straightened his toes which seemed to work.
Now he is about 8 weeks old and his leg is giving him problems ...in my eyes at least.
He seems to have no grip...
Thanks for your help Perris. No he didn't, I lost him half an hour ago. Despite it all I don't believe anything was done incorrectly, he was very skinny and weak, his bum was gluey"so it was meant to be. (I have to tell myself hat ) Mind you coming out feet first was not a good sign and I have...
I have popped him in the brooder with my other newborn but he is just lying there. I think its up to nature now, but i really hope he makes it. Ive done everything I can. I lost one last night and I really don't want to see the same thing happen, so thanks for your advice :)
Thankyou for replying.Do you mean from an egg I have in the fridge ? Cook it and feed him? I'm scared to open incubator as well...how should i do this, eeeek
Hi again everyone
My baby keep hatched this morning but does not seem right. It can't move, just kicks its legs and occasionally opens its mouth. It is also not fluffing up....which i know can take a while.
Should i take it out and give water and sugar or something? it chirps occasionally but i...
Thanks again !!
I have done as you suggested and added a small container of rice to see if that will reduce humidity. I shall keep you informed. Hope the other eggs in the incubator will be ok.....always something to worry about haha.
Have done it! I removed it and quickly shut incubator.
He is lying there shaking and shivering since he was born...not fluffing up yet either. I don't remember my other little one being like that...is he weak or can this happen. He has made no attempt to get up.I know it can take a while but am...
OH another question...if this little birdie survives and fluffs up....should i remove the waste around his bottom or just let it be?
Thanks in advance everyone :)
omg Pyxis thank goodness!!! I suppose my loss of my other chick has made me hysterical but I'm praying this little guy makes it.....thanku thanku thanku:wee:love
Ok I gently pulled back the shell but this yellow stuff is attached to his bum, is this yolk?? he's still chirping but not looking all that happy! Half off it has come off his bottom but the rest is still there??
its really hard to get a pic due to humidity grrrr.
Sumi I lost him.
I thought everything went well, but i have just found him dead in the incubator. I can't help but feel it was my fault but I do realise he may not have been strong enough to survive.
Thank you so much for your help though :)
Now a second chick i have is coming out feet first...
I don't know what to do and may be just worrying but this little chick has been coming out feet first!! Is this ok? It seems his head is stuck and his little leg is shaking.
I just lost a chick assisting last night so I'm feeling down and am quite scared to help again.
What do you all think I...
I couldn't do anything but help, he has stopped chirping and his mouth isn't opening like it was.
I got tweezers, q tips and coconut oil and removed shell on air sac as per the article link. I moistened the membrane (that stayed on) with the oil and have popped him back in the incubator. It is...
