Hey everyone, I have just recently hatched some chicks. My rooster is a male sizzle and my hens are barred rock. I was told the outcome would be chicks that are sex linked, males would have white spots on the head and females will just be black with no markings. I was planning on selling these...
Hey everyone ! This is my second time incubating eggs, and the first time incubating them from my own coop! Currently on day 7, so far so good. However I’m looking to sell them to locals in my community, and wanted to know how much I should sell them for. I bought my silkie frizzle eggs from my...
recently one of my chickens has been losing feathers rapidly. my first thought was that it was being picked on since it was the only chicken in my flock that appeared this way. at first i didn't really notice, and hadn't really noticed any bullying but it's starting to become an issue. one of my...
Yes, when i say sizzle, my cockerel is a silkie with frizzled feathers. my sizzle is in fact black and the male, meaning this would be the outcome if we were to breed. Thank you so much for this information! It really helped a lot, and i hope to breed as soon as my cockerel is old enough. :)
so now that i have plenty of knowledge on NOT to breed my two sizzles together, what would be the outcome if i were to breed my black sizzle to a straight feathered barred rock?
so it turns out my black sizzle is a in fact a roo! we heard it's crowing the other day. i'm also starting to think that my other one (that i was told was a full silkie) is a female. from uploading other photos, it is brought to my attention she is not a full silkie , and seems to be a sizzle as...
the first three are what i was told was a full silkie, the rest of the pictures are what i was told is a sizzle. i've actually been watching videos and looking at pictures of pure silkies at their age, and i'm starting to think it is not a full silkie but i'm still not quite sure.
if you could go more in to depth about the breeding? i'm confused as i don't have two frizzles. would i still be able to breed the sizzle and the silkie together?
Hello! My two chicks are 7 weeks old, and i've been wondering what sex they are. ive looked up different methods but they all are so different. Another set of eyes should definitely help. Attached are photos of different angles. The lighter one is a full silkie, the other black chick is a silkie...
so.. i have no experience in sexing my chicks, and i was wondering if these pictures might help to determine? i've looked at many different methods but i'm still unsure. They both hatched last sunday, may 12.
hey y'all! just wanted to let you guys know, if you think a chick isn't viable anymore, DONT throw it out until as far as day 26! i had one of my chicks hatch on day 23, and one pipping at the end of the day 25, and hatching on day 26. i'll post some pictures later !
so my silkie chickens are at day 21, they have been on lockdown since day 18. No internal pips or anything yet and i know that they can possibly hatch a little later than day 21. Should i candle them to see if the eggs are still living? ( there are 3 ) This is my first time incubating and i...
