    Sex links??

Hey everyone, I have just recently hatched some chicks. My rooster is a male sizzle and my hens are barred rock. I was told the outcome would be chicks that are sex linked, males would have white spots on the head and females will just be black with no markings. I was planning on selling these...

    Huge loss of feathers

recently one of my chickens has been losing feathers rapidly. my first thought was that it was being picked on since it was the only chicken in my flock that appeared this way. at first i didn't really notice, and hadn't really noticed any bullying but it's starting to become an issue. one of my...

    Sizzle To Straight Feather Breeding

Yes, when i say sizzle, my cockerel is a silkie with frizzled feathers. my sizzle is in fact black and the male, meaning this would be the outcome if we were to breed. Thank you so much for this information! It really helped a lot, and i hope to breed as soon as my cockerel is old enough. :)

    Sizzle breeding?

so it turns out my black sizzle is a in fact a roo! we heard it's crowing the other day. i'm also starting to think that my other one (that i was told was a full silkie) is a female. from uploading other photos, it is brought to my attention she is not a full silkie , and seems to be a sizzle as...

    Sexing Silkie Chicks!

the first three are what i was told was a full silkie, the rest of the pictures are what i was told is a sizzle. i've actually been watching videos and looking at pictures of pure silkies at their age, and i'm starting to think it is not a full silkie but i'm still not quite sure.

Bantams, too early to tell gender?

May be too early, try standing them up then take a picture. Their posture can tell whether they'll become a rooster or hen.

    Day 21

so my silkie chickens are at day 21, they have been on lockdown since day 18. No internal pips or anything yet and i know that they can possibly hatch a little later than day 21. Should i candle them to see if the eggs are still living? ( there are 3 ) This is my first time incubating and i...
