13 to 15 weeks.🤷 I bought them from a breeder as chicks. I was told they were a few weeks old so not 100 percent sure. I got them exactly 11 weeks ago today.
I know silkies are hard but I am not experienced with silkies. They are all the same age give or take a few days. Number two has enough of a tail and is twice the size of the others so I think roo. The other two I hope are hens but have no evidence.
My eggs tend to be so dark by that point that I can only see a tiny bit.It is day 19 and they are hatching so I don't think they have room to move really. I think it is ok as long as it doesn't stink.
It looks like they were reaching through the wire. This is one issue I have had if they're in anything chicken wire and smaller that they can still stick their beaks through.
I do love watching mama hens do their thing. Also, I have had eggs go for 24 hours in between internal and external pip but have never had an issue if it makes you feel better.
It will hatch. I have had eggs that I put in all together hatch over three days. The only thing is the hen may get off with her other babies and abandon it. Or she may not.
The Olives and rocks will be all skin and bones until they start laying almost. I wouldn't put them together with the giants until they are bigger. Were they scalped of just grabbed?
What breed/breeds are the new ones? I think the "breeding" is just fighting between the two. My giants don't mature until they are at least five months.
Wipe them off with a dry cloth. Don't use soap or water. Going into lockdown they should be ok just candle them all, the goop and not goop covered ones, to make sure there are no more bad eggs going into lockdown.
One of my seven week old chicks has a crop issue I think. This morning she was acting lethargic and seemed skinnier than the others. I fed her some scrambled eggs mixed with grower feed mashed up with electrolytes. She drank the liquid around the edge of that but didn't eat much. She has been...
I have a hen who decided to go broody after I started eggs in the incubator. She is a first timer so I don't know what she will do. My question is can I give her some eggs that are six days from hatching from the incubator so she can hatch them or should I just give her new eggs. Thanks for any...
I've had some take a long time to hatch. I would maybe give it a few more hours to see if it makes progress. If not you can get away with quickly sticking your hand in and turning it so it's on top. Good luck!
