Just following up. Michael was kept inside for three days so he could rest. He was also upped on his vitamin B and brewers yeast. Yesterday afternoon he was doing much better and he was walking normally all day today in his run. Thank you all.
This run is a fenced in area with sticks and stones and a pool for them, and a bunch of chickens. They also get time when the weather is nice to free range in the woods. Their bedding is usually pine shavings but recently I added oak shavings as well.
There is definitely the possibility but not sure. They have been secured in their run for the days leading up to this due to heavy rains for days. He appeared fine on day, little limp the next. Not walking on it on the third day
I'll try and get a video. Both legs felt equally cool this morning. Both feet have what I called a callus towards the heal with the injured food being a little bigger. We cleaned it with warm water and alcohol yesterday but it didn't seem to be an infection.
So I have a male call duck that has seen a significant issue with his leg/foot. Two days ago I saw a slight limp while he was walking but no distress. I immediately upped the yeast in their food. Yesterday morning I saw a significant limp and slowed/decreased walking. By afternoon he wasn't...
I have two 8 month old Anconas that are still not laying. From my reading it says around 5 months for them to start laying normally. We are now into winter here in Upstate NY. I was wondering are Anconas seasonal layers? I thought they were going to be year round layers. And I know I need to...
My 10 chickens and 4 ducks lI've in the same run, different night house. They eat the same food and get the same household food scraps and they love them. They all are so excited to see me walk from the house to the run with stuff. I also give them 5 grain scratch thrown on the ground which they...
Donald (front) and Daisy (back). Both female.
Our two calls. Male and female.
We purchased the top two as Anconas however we have heard from a few people that they may not be. However, we don't care. They are almost 5 months old, waiting on our first eggs.
The calls are also about 4-5...
Yes. Hear that all the time. I assumed they both do it, never have paid attention to which one has done it. I was told when I was given them that Call ducks were loud so I just assumed it was normal. I knew females were louder but assumed males made the same quack.
So I was given these two Call mallard ducks a month or so ago. I was told they were two males. The first picture you can see the green head of the duck while the other one has much more of a gray head. Also, it's tough to see but the duck with the green head has a white ring on its neck. It also...
My ducks at first were temporarily being kept in the chicken coup until their house was build. Bring off the ground it required me to catch them one by one every night in their run and put them away.
When their house was finished they had no interest in it and I was once again putting them in...
She seems to be doing fine the last few days. Since the morning after she seems to have been back to normal and we eating and drinking fine since the event. I'll try and re-introduce her tomorrow.
