I have a barr roo currently because my BSL roo died protecting the coop...he was beautiful and smart...he was the son I never had my BSL roo...chill and calm but ready to fight if need be...he was the perfect roo...
The chicks take after the roo...if you breed a RIR roo with barr hens you get a brown/reddish and blk hen...if you breed a barr roo with RIR hens you will get chicks who favor the barr look and not a BSL...plz note Bsl roos favor the barr with the exception they have more of a white tone neck...
That is a hard one...I need more feathers to see. One thing I have learned about Barred chicks ...chicks when they start to feather show more black then white and most of my chicks who turned out to be female have spots on their face/cheek area
That is probably a cockerel my barr roo did the same thing which is how he got the name tailess..was not sure if he was a pullet or roo until wattles came in. BSL roos mostly take from the barr side
I will be adding a video and will be making another incubator...so how to will be shown..bear with me..I am hooking up 3 heat lamps and 1 light plus outlet to my coop atm..getting the brooder box ready (electically) and I figure might as well add the rest y I am at it.
On a budget or should I say NO buget..us financially challenged ppl gotta use what we got..SO WITHOUT FURTHER A DO I GIVE YOU THE ...T.BROWN90...
Material:
* 1-Smal/medium tote (upside down
* 1 light fixture ( outdoor light, old lamps, ect will work)
* 1 4-6 ft little extension cord ( cut off...
I will add this..the ones that sank did so vertically (not flat down like a rock) the air sac and its location determine how it will float and how it will sit/ lay under water..so sinking does not determine no/loss of air sac.
It is day 18! But before "lockdown" starts you might want to check those chicks one more time. A lot of people do a final "candling" but at this point you cant see nothing but the air sac most of the time so seeing movement is a challenge...what's next.."water/floating test"..now let me tell you...
The two that sunk were bigger and thicker shelled then the other 3..there was obvious reasons why they sunk but they sunk vertical not flat down..hope this helps save unborn chicks lives
So..regardless when doing this sinking or floating do not matter..wait atleast 10 full seconds with no movement before you toss them..air sac was present in all of them but could not see movement when candled..the reason for the "water test".
