This is a great idea. I'll give them a call today.
So far Caitryn is doing pretty well. I work at home and have been with her a lot. She's eating very well too. She's not interested in leaving her nesting area yet but hopefully tomorrow she'll want outside to enjoy a nice warm day.
Thank you...
Thanks for the tip. I put some feelers out for grown duck buddies, we'll have to see how that goes.
Truth be told, I'd love it if she were my house and greenhouse buddy. But I'm certain I'll get an earful from my husband about her being in the house when he gets home tonight. 😬
A coyote attack took most of my flock and one of the two survivors passed this morning. I am worried about my single survivor's emotional well being now that she is all alone.
Caitryn is a Welsh Harlequin about 3 years old. She was not injured in the attack and is physically healthy. But she...
She was a rescue from a cold, cold night and I lost her tonight. 😢
I don’t really know what happened. i rescued her last night. Got her warmed up and safe. She’s drink for me. This morning she was all sorts of energetic, not much for eating but the energy level was good. By evening she was...
So I'm going to post a pic of one of my girl's poo. Normally on any other site it might be against the rules, but here, I'm thinking it's OK.
Augusta has survived the attack by the weasel. She is inside with her sister. She is walking, eating, quacking, bathing. But today I noticed a couple...
Thank you everyone! A bath is in the works today so she can get a good rinse -- and a bit of exercise too.
I think we're OK with infection (thank goodness!). Her wounds from the attack look more surface than puncture. I have some antibiotics and metacam from the vet also.
She has started...
OK, so I need some help on this one.
I lost a number of my babies to a &^%@! mink a few days ago. I have the survivors inside for care and calming. I was tending to one of them this afternoon and she had a distinct musky smell, like a mink or weasel.
She's been a bit unsettled since the attack...
I agree, the guilt on my part is as heavy as the loss of 2 of my flock. I had 1/2" cloth in place, but a small gap between a section was all it took. Plus I had some hay bales stacked along the back of the run (for wind protection) and that gave cover to the murderer. After I'm done with...
I was watching the weasel (actually might be a mink) along the pond just last week. At the time I was like 'hey, cool!', not so much now! If I had been nearby with a shovel I'd have had a new mink stole!
@Chullicken, Thank you so much for the info!
I am wanting to check on them constantly, but have taken to listening outside the door. I have them inside in the master bath - temp about 72 in there. I think my husband would have something to say about them in the bedroom for 2 months! :-)
I put...

I need some help & advice on caring for my wounded girls after a weasel attack.
Yesterday early morning sometime, a weasel got into the run. I lost two of my beauties. :-( I have three wounded, one OK. I have brought them in to a warm, safe location. I have cleaned the...
@Miss Lydia : Thanks for the excellent advice. Cooling feet in the pool would work well. I'm planning on wrapping tonight while cooler. Pool will be emptied so there is no possibility of an accident.
PS: Amazon is feeding ads for Angel Wing costumes in the feed. Gotta love the way they stalk...
