Can the infection grow that fast in 12hrs or is this something else? It didn't feel the same as the first bit, not as hard. I didn't want to dig too far without advice first so i covered it all in antibiotic ointment and wrapped it up. I have her in a room with a chicken each on their own crate...
Hey everyone, this is my first experience with bumble foot and i need some advice. I was able to remove the kernal of puss from her foot without too much of an indecent but when i removed the bandage the next day to apply a fresh one this is what i found.

Well the head was still intact and i hear that's a raccoon's favorite part. For the possum, i wondered if maybe a hawk killed the bird, ate a bit, and then the possum found the kill and ate the rest.
Could it be a possum? I do have one that roams around but it's never bothered the chickens before. Predators, land and air, have been suddenly been on the move. I live further out in the country but my friend lives downtown said she's seen coyotes and two fighting bald eagles in their park.
Came out to put the chickens away and found one of my bantams dead, inside out. Im thinking either hawk or owl but I'm not all that experienced with predators. Any thoughts?
I brought my female mallard who is tiny and always gets over mated inside. She was hatched out with the pekin and they're really close. He perked up right away and she's happily sitting in a cardboard nesting box as he sits next to her. He's eaten already and both seem calm now. Once my movable...
I could bring one of the other girls inside. The winter storm has made it impossible for me to move my flocks where i want them, they were all going to be separate after everything melts, but of course the warming weather has gotton to the males too soon.
Hi everyone, I have 11 female and 4 male ducks all of whom have been together for over two years with only minor incidents. The lowest male in the pecking order is my pekin who is just a gentle giant. This morning I go outside to let everyone oug of their coops and the poor guy is bleeding...
Hi all, this is my first year with Turkeys and I have one broad-breasted white that started acting oddly last night. With it being winter I have been keeping them medium sized coop overnight and on pasture during the day. Last night one went and sat down under one of my shade structures and...
Sadly she passed away. The brown liquid wasn't liquid at all when i got a look at her, it was dirt. It did not smell sour so it wasn't sour crop or anything like that. I'm still not sure what it was and all of the others are acting fine. I think she's died of malnutrition because although she...
I have a hen who's been acting weird lately. She was removed from the flock this summer due to injuries because she's a rooster favorite. All her feathers grew back and after it started getting a little cooler she's been standing all poofed out like she's cold. I decided to have her and her...
So I'm butchering another round of cornish, my first hen. I've never seen this before in any other bird I've harvested. Albeit, I'm not really experienced, this is my second year I've done a total of 8 or so birds. The tenderloins on this one looks like it's cooked...
I left her out to drain...
Yes, the top one laid the egg. I guess I'll have to get a male now lol. I was planning on hatching some next year but that doesn't look like it'll happen at this rate
Lol you're right. The one i thought was a male laid her first egg today.
Do you think there's anything wrong with the one that has pink carunkles? Does the color indicate health or is she just a slow bloomer?
I thought both genders crest sometimes. The one does so all the time though. I like your muscovy. I would like some more color to my flock. Very pretty
HI everyone. I was wondering if anyone with some muscovy experience might be able to tell me what gender these guys are.
These two are about five months but both are still making trilling noises, neither has lost their voice yet. I would assume the one with the red carunkles is a male but he's...
Hi all, I'm hatching eggs naturally with a broody hen but one baby is seemingly having troubles getting through his egg. Within 24 hrs of my noticing the little hole, not just a pip but it broke through the shell and took a breath, one sibling has nearly completely emerged and it hadn't appeared...
Hi all, first time hatching eggs, we're doing it naturally under some hens. They're just now starting to hatch but the heat index is in the 106 with humidity and we're worried it's too hot. They have food and cold water but im debating bringing them in so i thought I'd reach out and ask. How hot...
