That's pretty much what I thought too. I have 2 Orpington's and I've had conversations with them both about laying eggs and not telling me. My BO's are about 2 months older than my BR but have read that they usually need extra time to lay. I figure somebody got jealous when Fluffy got watermelon...
@BlueBaby I got 2 eggs this afternoon. I have my BR that I'm pretty sure laid the one yesterday. Her comb and waddles are big and VERY red. All the others are still fleshy/pink colored and really small. Is it normal for hens to lay if the comb and waddles aren't very pronounced? The eggs are...
Got my first egg today. I did a thorough clean of the coop today and thought Fluffy was just mad at me for changing the bedding. If I knew where everyone lived I am excited enough to drive to everyones house to show it off. Guess my BR isn't a roo after all....
Ok my AZ peeps... Peeps = Chicks = Chicks = Chickens... ok it was dumb but funny dumb. Heat / laying ? My 4 chickens I got just before Easter and the 2 others that are two months older. Now that we're in September I was hoping to have eggs by now. How long does it take for them to be old enough...
The bills are a yellow/orange and the legs and feet are for sure orange. They just moved into their pen this past weekend and since are walking more horizontal and less vertical. So pretty sure not Runner's. The smaller one walks a bit more upright so may have some Runner in her. And for sure...
@Miss Lydia let me see what i can do about better pics tomorrow. School today but my students have early release tomorrow. Let me know what it is your wanting to see
Thanks for the info. These are my first ducks, when it looked like I had Runner's did a crap ton of reading and planned for them not Pekin's. Guess I have more reading to do!
Got these littles July 25th at TSC. Posted pics about 3 weeks ago. Miss Lydia suggested they were Indian Runner's. Now I'm really not so sure. Sometimes they walk low like Pekin's and sometimes walk high like Runner's. Their feet are a nice orange, but the bills are more gold colored. They moved...
That is the cutest thing ever.... mine just finished a swim. Do you let yours swim in the tub? Mine do this underwater race from one end to the other. Now they are much bigger the whole bathroom is a mess after swim time. I have a picture and a video, lets see what uploads
Hey Mama_Owl_3 the pics I posted yesterday were taken just before I posted them. Their heads are still really yellow but the body feathers coming are white. They will be four weeks old in 2 days and not a drop of tan, brown, buff or even purple coming in on these 2. (I know there are no purple...
Today's pictures. All the little feathers coming in. Starting to look awkward teenager. They still stand upright, but just as much time spent low and centered. Is there another way to decipher if they are runner ducks.
They are so funny in the tub. They'll move outside in a week or so, got the neighbor boy coming to help me build a secure coop. LOTS of predatory birds in AZ.
Getting ready for bath time. Do have some feathers coming in. My ducklings are still very yellow and getting lighter by the day. Are there solid white runner ducks? Also a bit worried about respiratory issues. They seem to be panting ALL the time. No heat lamp anymore. Oh My Geez.... My little...
