    Naughty Girls!

Nope, they’re proper southern girls who spend all day hanging with their little chicken toes in the creek

    Naughty Girls!

Possibly but they spend most of their time in our creek, and I’m just not THAT interested. We’re on 9 acres so the odds of finding the stash are slim.

    Naughty Girls!

So, most of my girls are ‘ on the brink’ laying wise and I let them free-range. I had a hunch so I kept them in their coop until noon today. Wouldn’t you know it, I got an extra egg ☺️. What are the odds that the timing was THAT perfect? I think tomorrow they may stay in even later, LOL!

So sorry for all the losses . Here’s my Queen Bee, she was my flock leader and the first hen to ever lay an egg for me.

    Broody Game Hen

Minnie Bee on the right. She’s really pretty, right? This is my first flock, they came all together. Guess I’ll look into rehoming her. Bummer too, she’s a pretty good little layer.

    Broody Game Hen

I don’t have a roo or any interest in hatching/raising chicks. Should I recommend her? I’d hate for her to be unhappy..

we brought home some new pullets earlier this week and now our little game hen has gone broody. 1) Is that the reason, and 2) how do we get her to stop? TIA!

    Meet the new girls(?)

The supplier offered to let me bring them back and indeed they were boys. Crisis averted, he let me swap them for the girls I wanted. My faith in humanity is restored

    Meet the new girls(?)

Meet the new girls, hopefully . I was told they’re copper marans pullets, roughly 3 months old. What says the collective wisdom on this site? Also a picture of my first copper marans Bea.

    When will they lay?!?

Getting so anxious!! 3 of 7 are laying. My Marans and Old English Game hens are a year old and laying, my True Green Whiting started at 4-1/2 months, when will the rest of my girls start? I’ve got a Light Brahma, 3 Wyandotte’s all 5 months old. Agh, I can’t stand the anticipation!!!!!

    Miniature Marans???

Thank you! I googled that and pictures of Old English Bantam Game Hens look just like her, plus they lay cream color eggs which would explain where THOSE are coming from . Everybody else will be laying brown eggs if I’ve got the breeds right.
