Need better fencing (squirrels n rabbits chewing)

Full setup. The run is bullet proof, but the outside play area is getting infiltrated by bunnies and squirrels and if i leave the run open during the day the squirrels will go in and try to get some free food.

Need better fencing (squirrels n rabbits chewing)

The chicken run is fully fenced in and cant be accessed but I like to open the door to the run and let the chickens walk around inside the fenced area. That is when the squirrels get in and eat their food.

Need better fencing (squirrels n rabbits chewing)

The fence is made of plastic. My concern with using 1/2" hardware cloth is that its rigid and squirrels will just climb it. The plastic netting is fluid and if a squirrel tries to climb it it buckles and waves and they get off.

Need better fencing (squirrels n rabbits chewing)

Hey guys, I have been using an Omlet coop and their fencing and I really like it but this year I've been having issues with the squirrels and at night the rabbits chewing through the fence. I've thought about electric fencing but I live in Minnesota and we get ample snow so I'm assuming that's...

    Automatic chicken door DIY

The code i wrote is quite simple but it starts counting once it sees 19 lux or under. It has to see 19 lux or less 15 consecutive times (once per minute) before it initiates closing the door. If at any time it sees a light value higher than 19 lux, it starts the count over again. Yes there is a...

Sore on top foot where feathers enter skin

I have cochins and as you know they have feathery feet. One of my cochins has some skin that's broken open where the quil enters the skin on the top of the foot. It's not large, it appears as if the feather was bent too far and tore the skin a small amount. Is this something to be concerned...

    Cochins laying eggs too early?

She laid another egg! She laid this one in the coop on the floor. I opened the nesting box this morning but she doesn't seem to know what that is. I bought some fake eggs to coax them into using the laying box but that doesn't arrive until thursday. The books i've read say to not leave nesting...

    Cochins laying eggs too early?

Thanks for the reply! I just put out some oyster shell, of course they are afraid of it. Will take a day or two of it not moving before they trust it.

    Cochins laying eggs too early?

The silver laced one is the culprit. When I pet her she squats to be mounted. These are my only chickens. The egg she made is quite small. Smaller than a medium sized egg for sure.

    Cochins laying eggs too early?

I have 6 cochin hens and they are going to be 5 months old Sept 5th. I have been told many times that they (cochins) wont lay eggs until they are 9 months of age. To my surprise today I saw an egg in the yard. I know who it was from which was our silver laced cochin, she has more waddle and comb...
