Sore on top foot where feathers enter skin

I have cochins and as you know they have feathery feet. One of my cochins has some skin that's broken open where the quil enters the skin on the top of the foot. It's not large, it appears as if the feather was bent too far and tore the skin a small amount. Is this something to be concerned about? I was thinking about putting some neosporin on it but I wasn't sure.
