i'll start out with saying... we dont breed chickens... we buy chicks and hatch eggs.. we are simply urban backyard chicken people.. no roosters.. so i cant improve what i already have...
however... im curious
the 11 year old DD took 2 chickens to show at the fair this year and they were...
so... i have never had quail before... but im seriously thinking about it... i was talking to my local feed mill guy today... and they sell their own mix of wild game bird feed... at 300 pounds at a time... not knowing anything about quail i was curious...
how many do you have? and how much do...

ok the coop and run are done... we had quite the day at the florida chickenstock at nava and el wayandottes house today... came home and got some hardware put on so we could lock the girls up... its done... and we're done lol

im currently having a coop built... i am going with the deep litter method.. meaning an 8 inch box perimeter around the base of the coop inside... i will be putting linoleum down on the floor and covering those 8 inch boards as well... my question is.. should i use pine shavings as a base or...
the plan is for the coop to be 9 and a half feet by 6 and a half feet.... the run can be any size.. however my question is.. with a coop that size.. will a run that is 14 feet by 6 and a half feet be ok ???? ... if i want to have about 11 hens total???
