@casportpony you are like the Yoda of the duck world lol I wouldn't have even known how or where to find that info! I'll definitely call tomorrow and see what I can find out! Thanks a million :) Oh..almost forgot..the other two are ok. One is doing great. She's actually swimming in the bathtub...

    Ducklings suddenly dying

I've raised 8 other ducks and not added niacin. They all have made it to a year old lol But with these babies I actually did add vitamins and niacin to their water/food. Like I said, these ones were hardcore babied lol

    Ducklings suddenly dying

I hadn't seen that one. So I'm wondering if I have rats around and don't know it. That would make sense I suppose. The way they described the symptoms are the closest to what my babies have had too. I'm betting that's what happened. So now I have to figure out how to keep rats away...or keep...

    Ducklings suddenly dying

My first 4 were just shy of 6 weeks old. The next 5 were just shy of 8 weeks. The last one was just shy of 9 weeks. The first 4 were hatched 6 weeks before the the next 8.

    Ducklings suddenly dying

@chickens really I just looked it up and it sounds like that could be it. But I can't figure out where they would have gotten it from. Is it a genetic mutation? Could my big ducks have it but not show symptoms and pass it along to the littles? I tried reading a couple articles but they confused...

    Ducklings suddenly dying

So I have what feels like a weird question. Does anyone else have a duck who's poop floats? My one that is battling bumblefoot has the SMELLIEST poop I've ever smelt...and most of it floats. Any ideas? Lol

Is a pair of drakes really better?

Just about a year. There were 4 of them. I had them in with my girls but when spring came they got a little too rough with my favorite girl and killed her. It wasn't really their fault, they were just doing what nature told them to do. I ended up giving 2 away but these too haven't found a new...

Is a pair of drakes really better?

I have two boys that free range and are happy as can be. They're brothers so they've literally spent their whole lives together. They never fight. Most times you'll find them snuggled up with each other just hanging out.

    Ducklings suddenly dying

I have the name of a local vet who does a lot with birds. They aren't open today so I'm going to give them a call tomorrow. Its all so weird. I'm really hoping I can keep my last two alive. One seems to be doing really well. The other appears to have a nasty case of bumblefoot on top of...

    Ducklings suddenly dying

What is necropsy? I've never heard of it... @WVduckchick I never thought of that. I'll definitely check the date on the bag. I was on the 3rd or 4th bag of pellets with the newest batch. It never even crossed my mind the food might have been bad!

    Ducklings suddenly dying

I never noticed any blood in their poop. I did notice that when they were starting to get sick their poop was green with a minty green liquid..if that makes any sense lol As far as their appetites, they all had normal appetites. They loved it when I brought them food. They'd go absolutely...

    Ducklings suddenly dying

I gave them all fresh water, day and night. The four that died earlier in the year were in a small chicken coop..one of those cheaply made ones similar to what you'd find at Tractor Supply. They had a black rubber bowl that they were using as a swimming pool. Those ones were all khaki...

    Ducklings suddenly dying

This year I decided to try hatching out ducks. I hatched 4 in June. The incubation and hatching process weren't any trouble, went slick as could be. When they were about 4 weeks old I started putting them in a small, temporary coop outside during the day. They absolutely loved it. I'd bring them...
