Do yo feed Your flock KITCHEn scraps...

Chickens in our fenced garden jump up for the kale stalks still growing. I think the chicken pruning encourages the kale to grow stronger and taller. It’s an entertaining event for my grand baby. Otherwise some days my chickens get cooked white or any kind of rice and oatmeal, Cheerios, cut ends...

Runny excretion no white from 4month chicken

Thank you for the poop article. It was very helpful, but my chicken has poop with no white; green and liquid; no worms, hardly any solid to it. I am giving them nothing but layer feed and a few black sunflower seeds as snacks. They have not eaten the pellets for two days now.

Runny excretion no white from 4month chicken

Hello. Have you read my posts? The feed pot is still almost full of pellets. Chickens are not eating it. Will they starve themselves because of disinterest in their food?

Runny excretion no white from 4month chicken

I’m worried that one of my chickens is sick. I switched from organic chick feed to medicated pellets gradually, and have added laying pellets 3:1 for every day with a Tbsp of black sunflower seeds and pumpkin today for my 20 weekers . They also get some cantaloupe and seeds, watermelon, celery...

Comment by 'SNew' in article 'Herbs, Flowers, and Weeds for Chickens'

I wonder if they can eat raw kale and arugula. I have so much. But my lawn is full of that awful buttercup which I’m digging up yard by yard. You wrote a very nice article, Thanks! Have a blessed day. “Behold He is coming quickly...”

What did you do with your flock today?

When I went to put my three chicks to bed, I heard no peeps anywhere even after calling them. After cleaning everything for them today I was devastated that maybe the latch wasn’t fastened on the gate and they got out. My husband got the flashlight and we looked inside the coop...there they...

    Probiotics in main water supply?

I read that 8 wk old chicks need probiotics in their main water supply. So they’ve been outside in the coup and run for about 6 days, still haven’t figured out the yellow toggle in the cup, although I go out periodically during the day to show them. They do drink the water in the cup, but don’t...

    Temp at 4wks?

Thank you. Between the oldest and youngest might be one week, so I guess the chicks will adjust in the brooder to meet their own needs. They will get the red heat lamp at night and nothing by day since the heat in the house is cooler at night, but about 70* during day. Thanks again.

    Temp at 4wks?

Our chicks are 4 wks. The red light is now elevated 2’ above the floor of the brooder. The house is about 68*-70*. Do they still need the heat lamp?

We have three new chicks. Ameri, Nori, and Marina are their names which correspond to their breeds. We’ve watched our daughter raise chicks for seven years and decided to try it. We hold them twice a day and say “cheep cheep cheep” every time we feed them or hover to watch them. They are so...

We’re thinking that our chicks like the chips better than the pellets. But the pellets don’t interfere with the water like chips do. Any comments?
