I live in Knoxville TN and wasn't even aware there was a RIR show! I'd love to go, does anyone have anything for sale at the show? I've only got a trio and don't expect any eggs till spring. I'm in the market for more since I'm ordering another coop during black Friday sales.
Pm me if you're...
Luckily, the way I understood it, they were much younger when the lady I bought them from got them. But she also seemed surprised they weren't laying, which they probably were laying for her. I'm patient (not).
I have blackberry bushes, but I don't think I have raspberry..
Here's a photo!
Just called the lady I bought them from, and the guy whom she bought them from told her he got them from breeder in GA (Kenneth Davis). She said this is their first year laying, so I must just be too anxious to get eggs! Also, I have been out of chickens for about two years and this is my first...
How often do older heritage RIRs lay? I bought a trio but didn't bother asking about age and it's almost been a week and I'm anxiously awaiting an egg. The spurs on the rooster are about an inch and the combs are nice and red. I live in Tennessee and not sure if the conditions just haven't been...
I'm not really sure, the breeder is from Georgia but bought from an older couple out in the sticks of TN that had them on Craigslist. She gave me a name but I didn't remember. I may call her back and ask so then I have more information on them. Wish they would lay some eggs!
Coop is still somewhat a work in progress, but it's keeping the chickens safe. We bought a trio of heritage Rhode Island Reds. No eggs as of yet, but they're still getting accustomed to the new home. Hoping to get done eggs in the incubator (yes, late in the season).
Hey all! It's been a loooooong time since I have been on BYC. Hubby and I used to live in Oliver Springs, and sold out of rabbits and chickens at the fair back in 2013. Today, we started building our first chicken coop. I'm not a complete newbie, seeing as I used to have 4-5 breeds and 100...
Hey Stacy, do you still have that barred rock rooster? I'm looking for some meat/egg producing chickens for my neighbor, she's interested in having 5-6 hens and a rooster. I'm trying to get her started!
Freedom = Don't know that person anymore! I'm surprised they haven't gone into the pen on their own, is it really low to the ground? Is there any roosts inside of it? That would be my only guess is that their natural instinct to roost is greater than their natural instinct to go back to their...
Oh, so my hens stopped laying weeks ago. I stopped looking for eggs, well I've been letting them out to help the ground dry up and I always count them because I make sure they didn't find somewhere else to sit. They were all in the coop last night and I had a pile of 9 eggs just sitting in the...
Ugh, all the rain meant I had to get into the muddy run each day to feed the chickens... no water, the rain kept the bowls full and they stayed surprisingly clean. Yesterday decided I was over the mud, opened their run door to let them range; forgot to close the door last night and am sure...
Well sometime this week will be signing a contract with a realtor who specializes in land sales.. just trying to get it out there! No pond but has natural springs, hubby said that his aunt and uncle wanted to buy a cookie cutter piece from it years ago before we bought it to plug the spring to...
I know this is a long shot... but if anyone on here knows someone or is interested themselves in owning their own tract of land.. I have 7.4+/- land for sale!
