I have one baby chick that hatched today and is still sitting.. it does not have legs out to the side but is not standing yet either..
When should I expect to see them walking around before treating for spraddle leg ?
I looked tonight and her parts looke normal. She had a little trail of blood on her feathers but nothing substantial. From the outside she looked normal. I will check her again in the morning.
Thanks.. I wonder if she had a clot of some sort???
My most personable hen has had thin shells for quite some time and tonight while closing up the coop I found one of her eggs covered on one end with blood.
She is a little over one year old, barred rock, one of 6 hens, free range and on layena laying mash, pine shavings for bedding. What...

My 3- one year old hens I adopted last week have been laying. The first few eggs were "normal" today I had one with a soft spot and it did not feel right after I cracked it to look inside the shell was paper thin.

I would not be suprised if the heat is affecting them as well.
I will do more searching but so far all the eggs layed have been in the same nest that the made on their own next to the house.
I appreciate you taking the time...
I brought home 3 laying hens this week. From the three hens I have found 4 eggs since Wednesday. Is this a normal frequency?
They are barred rocks a little over 1 year old.
I kept them on the same layer food. They were in a decent sized coop and now are free range. I have found the eggs all...
I know.... I just did not realize all the crud they could have and just thought if they looked/ acted healthy I would be ok.

Thanks All!
What do I have here.. she sounds a little squirty... sorry for the details but the pic is the backside...
I read oatmeal if it is diahrrea.. the skin around the area is a little red. I just got her yesterday and she was rather dirty.
I cleaned her up and thought it was just travel and stress.
Thanks so much.. So far they are getting along since the hens are not around to "impress"
I may let them out to graze and roam then put them in the shed at night just for space considerations.
I just feel bad leaving them up all day. I just put them in the shed last night. I will be sure I am...

I just did not want to scare off my new...

Ok so I did not get the Dawn suggestion until after the fact.. but I did rinse well and dry them with the hair dryer. They totally chilled and some fell asleep while getting dried.
I even got an egg after this hole experience so I hope they are ok. I do need to go against all suggestions...
