Thanks for the reply! She’s not laying but neither is another NHR in my flock bc of short days. I felt to see if she’s egg bound and she is not. There is an odor. It’s kind of nasty, not super yeasty. Her crop is emptying.
My hen appears to have vent gleet that’s gotten significantly more yellow and watery than the pic. I’ve given her 400 IU of nystatin 2x day for 3 days and she still has no appetite and is lethargic. Should I try a different antifungal or antibiotic even? I have access to fluconazole and ordered...
My hens are starting to sleep in the nesting box. Are they cold because their ventilation is too low? There’s a freeze tonight. Roost is open from below and ventilation is upper right. The beige plate heater is unplugged.
What’s could be going on with the hen that laid this egg? All my three 6-month old layers seem perfectly healthy. We got one more egg today that was perfectly normal.
Treated yes
-She was treated yesterday and today
-The vet thinks she has a blockage but can’t say without doing exploratory surgery
-Trimethoprim sulfa 48 mg/ml - 1.4 ml twice daily
-liquid food is Emeraid IC Omnivore
-18 weeks
I’ll call the vet tomorrow.
We took our chicken with sour crop to a new bird vet and she hydrated our chicken then sent her home with antibiotics and liquid food. Isn’t sour crop a yeast bloom and doesn’t she likely have a blockage so wouldn’t require food? I wasn’t able to ask these questions because my husband took her...
Originally from Cackle Hatchery, we’re pretty sure this New Hampshire Red chicken is a rooster. He’s very friendly and well socialized with children and dogs - we raised him from a chick. We’re located in the East Bay, near Oakland in California. Anyway, he needs a new home as we’re only allowed...
I have a mellow gentle 7 year old golden spayed female and a energetic 1 year old dachshund neutered male. How do i start to get them used to our 6 chicks that arrive next week? The the chicks will be separated by a brooder box and a dog gate. I was hoping to leave them all together while the...
I looked again and it turns out there is wire mesh on the whole run floor underneath the dirt instead. I guess the previous owners of this coop were savvy.
Or will moving a bunch of these pavers pictured below to the sides suffice to keep out critters? We have coyotes, foxes and raccoons. How do I bury the apron if i need it? I have clay soil. Thanks!
My husband and I are talking about ordering precisely the coop you ordered but for 6 hens. I'm wondering if we could buy it off you before they ship it to you. I feel for you. Our current coop is way too small for 6 and we over-ordered chicks too in our excitement.
