    How long to quails last?

Hi. They will lay eggs practically every day. Make sure their feed contains around 2.5.% calcium or you can provide crushed oyster shell. The oyster shell you get from pet stores meant for budgies will be fine. It will ensure the egg shells are healthy and strong. Enjoy your birds.

    Thoughts on crow collars?

Hi. Please don't be put off by people claiming they are cruel. They are not. I've noticed these crow collar threads being shut down in the past by people claiming they are cruel, when members are just looking for advice. I'd like to know how many of those people (Not referring to any one...

    Thoughts on crow collars?

Sorry I disagree. Have you used one? They do not stop your Rooster from crowing. They make the crow quiet enough so as not to annoy anyone. I have one on my Cockerel. He crows more than any of my previous boys! Just at a lower volume. He treads like Rudolf Nureyev. He loves on his ladies like...

    Chicken Haiku

I suppose it was. Although I wasn't conscious of that when I wrote it. It was actually a Polcat ferret, not a fox (too many syllables). Although they react in exactly the same way as a fox. It happened last November before I joined BYC. I haven't spoken about it on here before. I took the girls...

    Welsummer or SS

This is one of my 4½ week old pure Welsummer bantam hens. I haven't got a photo of a cockerell at this age, but having ringed the cockerells at one day old the only difference between them at this age was the development of the comb. Either way, what you have is turning into a nice looking bird.
