Help! Duck egg has hairline cracks in it & still have almost a week to go

We lost power last night, took 4 hrs to get it back on. I have 2 eggs that are much further along than the other eggs (23 & 24 days). Eggs were fine before the power went out & I just checked to see if they all made it through & discovered one has hairline cracks all around the egg & a perfect...

    HELP! No electricity from storm

We just lost power from the storm & I’ve got duck eggs in the incubator. How can I keep them warm enough while also keeping proper humidity? All I can find online for no electricity incubation is it being supplemented with sunlight which we don’t have right now.

Need advice after all but 1 in flock of 4 died

My friend just had 3 of his 4 Pullets die. First one showed signs something was wrong last Friday (May 19) & by Sunday afternoon she passed. They didn’t bother coming to get Corid powder from me until Saturday evening & didn’t quarantine the sick bird like I advised them to. Then over the next 2...

Help! Is something wrong with 9 week old pullet!?

Click for video She is normally very active, runs around with the other girls & today she has become very lethargic, puffy with tail down & hunched over. She is still scratching & pecking around their run but she’s acting very odd. No signs of injury.

    Hen looks Puffy

The past couple of days have been very difficult. I came home after being out of town for a week to learn my main rooster & 2 of my hens had been killed by coyotes. I was looking at the rest of my roosters & hens when I got home last night & some of them aren't looking too hot. My biggest...

What’s wrong with my Rooster’s feet!?

My Salmon Faverolle’s feet keep getting worse. We had tried to use misters for a period of time to keep our chickens cool from the southern ca heat & it seems like it caused nothing but health issues. Chickens ended up with coccidiosis/worms. We’ve done the first round of treatment for the...

Is this a sign of Coccidiosis?

Not sure which of my chickens pooped but I noticed blood in it. Is this a sign they have Coccidiosis? What is the best way to treat my flock? I’ve got 21 chickens & assume I’ll need to treat them all.

    Double yolk hatch

I had an egg that didn’t hatch. In the beginning I thought I had seen two yolks but then forgot about it. Throughout the development it looked like only one chick. I decided to open it after I saw signs that the chick had died & even after cracking it open I still thought there was only one...

Hen abandoned remaining eggs; had to help chick with difficult hatch

I had 1 chick hatch yesterday & like clockwork my hen wanted nothing to do with it once hatched. I removed the chick so she would not kill it as it looked like it was heading that way. She went back to sitting on the remaining eggs & that was that. By the time the 2nd chick hatched she was...

Broody hen’s earlobes are turning black

My hen went broody, hatched some chicks & all she wants to do is sit on eggs. She’s lost quite a lot of weight, her comb is shriveled & I just noticed this morning her earlobes have a black patch on them. It also looks like the black is all around her eyes & down to her beak. I’m not sure if...

    What is this in egg??

Something felt off about one of the eggs today so I decided to crack it open & found my first double yolk! Exciting but can someone tell me what the heck this is! Is it a worm, an umbilical cord, what!?

Anyone know why this may have happened to hours old chick??

Chick hatched yesterday. I left hen & new baby chick in the coop after first discovering she had hatched. I didn’t know if it would be a good idea to move them while it was still wet & the strong winds had such a chill to them yesterday. I went back to check later & 1 of the eyes looked like...

    Cold eggs

Went down to check on our girl who went broody; hatching day is just around the corner! When I opened the lid to the nesting boxes she wasn’t there. I initially thought she had gotten up to eat or drink briefly until I looked to my right & noticed she was on a different nest. There was a new egg...

Hen went broody & now we’ve got chicks on the way... question!

One of my girls went broody & I decided to see this through. I realized what was happening on the 7th of this month. She was sitting on 4 eggs. After a couple of days I decided to check the eggs & out of the 4, 1 had started to develop. At some point throughout the week other hens were able to...

    What would you do?..

Posted under a different category but going to give this one a go as well.. I posted on here awhile back about my Wyandotte pullet. I ended up finding an avian vet (we were her first chicken patient) somewhat close to me that I took her to. What I had thought was a crooked wing was actually...

    What would you do?...

I posted on here awhile back about my Wyandotte pullet. I ended up finding an avian vet (we were her first chicken patient) somewhat close to me that I took her to. What I had thought was a crooked wing was actually her neck. The injury happened while away & watched by a friend. Since COVID...

2 sleeping in nesting box to avoid other hens

2 of my girls (heckle & jeckle) are a couple months younger than the others they just joined in the coop. Some of the older ones are such bullies. I always put h & j in the coop first, they go on one of the roosting bars & try to sit as still as possible like they’re not even there. Then one...

HELP! What’s wrong with my pullet’s neck!?

This just started within the last week. I’m still fairly new to chickens (August) & seeing a vet isn’t an option at the moment. We went out of town for about a week for Christmas. We had friends stay to watch & care for our animals. My youngest pullets are still inside our home. This one in...
