Hey guys!
I have a couple questions. My two ducklings are healthy, growing fast and about 10 days old.
1. They have flaky skin on their legs. Is this normal?
2. When is a good time to start giving them treats? And what kind?
3. When should I stop offering them food 24/7? And what should the...
Hi guys! I recently tried to hatch 5 healthy duck eggs.
First off, the first egg hatched 3 days late. Fine, he came out feisty and healthy! The next day, the second egg hatched, even though she pipped on the wrong end. She’s a bossy little thing!
But the next three eggs were very very slow. I...
Thanks for your help guys! My phone won’t upload a different picture but all it looks like is he’s sleeping. However he can’t get out of the position and his leg is bent in all weird.
He can’t move out of that position. I’ll give him the night of course yeah! It just is hard to see him like that. I work at a vets office and it’s hard for me to not want to be all hands on to fix or stop the problem!
No he pipped at the small end from the very start. He’s pretty feisty tho so I think he’ll be able to strong arm his way out. I don’t have coconut oil is there something I can use instead?
Also when I peeled back a little bit of shell the membrane was till soft and white and not shrink wrapping him at all but he’s still coming out the small end. Pushing to get out though.
Yeah I know that’s better but I don’t have adult ducks 😢. I picked some of the shell away but the one is also hatching on the small end. I’m just going to let them be
yes they’re still chirping and wiggling around. The one with the browner membrane popped less than 24 hours ago so I’m not going...
Before anyone comments, yes, it’s dirty in there but that’s because three babies have hatched already in there and it’s styrofoam. He is just sitting like that. Also, is a brown membrane bad? The other two have brown membranes and are mid hatch.
Hi, one of my ducklings hatched today and he can’t straighten out his neck. He seems to be in the exact position he was in the egg. He took a long time to hatch and I had to help him. He can’t raise his head and he has a crooked leg.
Is there a way to fix this or will he most likely die? If...
Here is Little Man! The other five eggs are coming along at different speeds; although one of them has pipped at the wrong end. Is this going to be a problem? He’s vocal (although it’s not a high pitched peep) and he has only externally pipped in the last 24 hrs. Is this ok?
Hey guys!
Writing this post for future readers; indeed when I went back to check on him about 4 hours later when I woke up it had dried up to a yucky looking brown-fig thing and he was peeping away and making the world aware of his presence. It had also fallen off. All is well!
Yayyyy!!!! He’s wobbling around and screaming his little lungs out. I watched him hatch at 3:45 am; I got up to check on him at the exact right time! What a cutie 💕😍😍
Hi guys I know it’s 4 am but my first ever duckling hatched, he looks great and healthy but he is still somewhat attached to the shell and some yolky substance came out as he was born. Should I just let him be in the incubator and leave him be or is there something I should do?
Hey guys things are going well, albeit a little slow but I think that’s just how it goes with ducks. One question; how do you know if the membrane is too dry? Humidity has been around 70-80% for the last 5 days so all should be well. Just wondering how you know.
Vveeerryyy sooon! The eager first guy is doing his best to zip, so I’m thinking I may have a hatch tonight!!!! If he doesn’t hatch before bed (highly doubt he will) I’m going to get up in the middle of the night and check on him.
