Hi, one of my ducklings hatched today and he can’t straighten out his neck. He seems to be in the exact position he was in the egg. He took a long time to hatch and I had to help him. He can’t raise his head and he has a crooked leg.
Is there a way to fix this or will he most likely die? If he’s more likely to die please let me know this can be done in the most humane way.
Thanks guys.

I’m so sorry to hear about your duckling. Maybe just give this little one a few days to see if things start straightening out when they are cramped in the egg sometimes it takes a while. Can you post a pic so we can see what’s going on with it? Thanks

Before anyone comments, yes, it’s dirty in there but that’s because three babies have hatched already in there and it’s styrofoam. He is just sitting like that. Also, is a brown membrane bad? The other two have brown membranes and are mid hatch.

Hold on a sec there’s help on the way. I let my girls hatch for me I don’t use a bator?
Yeah I know that’s better but I don’t have adult ducks 😢. I picked some of the shell away but the one is also hatching on the small end. I’m just going to let them be
How long since the eggs have externally pipped, are they chirping or yawing still, struggling to get out?
yes they’re still chirping and wiggling around. The one with the browner membrane popped less than 24 hours ago so I’m not going to touch him. The other has been pipped for a little longer but he’s also presenting from the small end so I picked away some of the shell, not a lot, and we’ll see what happens. Any more advice?
